Serve as first-line responder, injury manager, and liaison for youth and collegiate athletes in a dynamic sports environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or Physiology. 2. Current Licensure as required by state in which services will be provided: OH:Athletic Trainer through Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Training Board WV:Athletic Trainer through West Virginia Board of Physical Therapists PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE: 1. Two (2) years of experience in Athletic Training. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Provides on-site injury prevention, taping, bracing, and warm-up supervision before practices/games. 2. Responds to acute injuries and emergencies during practices and games. 3. Conducts injury evaluations, coordinates referrals, and communicates with parents, coaches, and physicians. 4. Manages concussion protocols, return-to-play progression, and hydration/heat illness monitoring. 5. Travels with teams as needed, often working afternoons, evenings, and weekends. 6. Conduct musculoskeletal assessments using clinical and functional testing. 7. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans. 8. Coordinate referrals to physicians, physical therapists, or specialists when necessary. 9. Administer therapeutic exercises and modalities to promote healing. 10. Track progress and adjust plans based on patient/athlete recovery status. 11. Educate on injury prevention and safe return-to-activity protocols. 12. Maintain detailed and accurate treatment records. 13. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, and organizational policies. 14. Communicate regularly with medical professionals, coaches, parents, and/or patients. 15. Serve as a resource for injury prevention and athletic health education. 16. Determine fitness for participation pre-season and post-injury. 17. Assist in the selection and fitting of protective equipment. 18. Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room, equipment, and related implements. Near Vision Additional Job Description: Jackson County BOE JD: Minimum Qualifications: 1. Valid NATABOC Certification 2. Proof of registration with the WV Board of Physical Therapy Preferred Qualifications: 1. Bachelors Degree or higher in Athletic Training. 2. Emergency Cardiac Care Certification. 1. Attend all varsity and junior varsity football games and other sporting events per contract. 2. Attend home freshman football games, as deemed appropriate. 3. Attend or be in the vicinity during all football practice sessions unless attending a game. 4. Provide athletic training services to all other sport teams, as deemed possible. 5. Attend to students' injuries during lunchtime so that students do not miss instructional time. 6. Determine when a student may resume sport activity unless the student is under a physician's care. In such cases, the physician must release the student to resume activity. 7. Work cooperatively with the athletic director and coaches in planning and implementing conditioning programs for student athletes. 8. Advise coaches on selection ad proper fitting of protective equipment. 9. Apply protective equipment and preventive taping as directed by a physician. 10. Report to the athletic director and/or head coach of any hazardous conditions in the athletic environment. 11. Advise coaches and athletes on general health concepts such as rest, nutrition, and fluid intake. 12. Provide appropriate first aid for athletic injuries. 13. Arrange for emergency transportation when necessary. 14. Refer athletes to their physicians when necessary. 15. Supervise the treatment and rehabilitation of athletes as directed by a physician. 16. Instruct and supervise student trainers, if available. 17. Maintain adequate records regarding physical referrals, patient progress, treatment, rehabilitation, and any other required state or county records. 18. Maintain medical supply inventory and requisition supplies. as needed. 19. Report the presence of any situation that may be harmful to the health and safety of the students and/or staff. 20. Fulfill annual continuing education requirements and attend other required training programs. 21. Maintain professional work habits. 22. Maintain and upgrade professional skills. 23. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
