Position Summary Buyer/Planner responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing Parker procurement of maintenance, repair, and operating. materials and services to support the local site. Requires application of basic purchasing principles, theories and concepts.
- Ensuring timely acquisitions of product or service from known sources of supply.
- Planning, scheduling and monitoring the efficient movement of materials through the production cycle to ensure the shipment of products as scheduled to maximize on-time delivery.
- Resolving issues in the areas of requisition accuracy and completeness, on-time delivery and supplier payment.
Responsibilities Scope / Supervision and Interaction: Has Direct Reports X Does Not Have Direct Reports Position directly reports to the Materials Planning Manager Essential Functions:
Purchase parts, equipment, and materials for maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) expenses by preparing request for quotations and submitting purchase orders with approved suppliers. Issues purchase orders and agreements that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions as negotiated with suppliers. Responsible for maintenance and accuracy of open purchase orders, quotes, work orders and part master data for items with assigned buyer code. Maintains accurate lead times and price files for MRO expenses. Resolve shipment quality discrepancies by mediating supplier/manufacturing issues. Facilitates the resolution of issues by arranging and participating in conferences between suppliers and company personnel. Negotiates and settles damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes with suppliers. Plan and schedule production capacity load to ensure maximum on-time delivery for assigned areas. Monitor and evaluate production execution to plan and supplier performance. Advises appropriate personnel on production issues or impending supplier failure to fulfill contractual agreements that may delay production or delivery. Provide parts, equipment, and materials information by answering questions and requests. Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Evaluate Plan for Every Part (PFEP) and complete ABC/xyz analysis on inventory and MRO expense items. Assist in executing requisite system transactions needed to support the receipt, storage and transfer of material. Check incoming tool and supplies shipments, verify accuracy of receipts, report damaged or incorrect receipts, allocate space, and store items. Responsible for inventory levels for MRO expenses. Generate tracking reports and perform data entry as required. Participate in continuous improvement activities and provide suggestions for cost reduction and efficiency improvements. Participate in developing alternate sources of supply by identifying and researching prospective suppliers for MRO expenses.
Qualifications Qualification Requirements:
4-year college degree Supply Chain management, relevant discipline, or equivalent experience. Experience and/or exposure to supply chain concepts and methodologies, and manufacturing through internships or training programs. Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities. Must have intermediate computer skills and be able to understand electronic processing. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts. Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices.
