Compensation

Salary Range: $55,000.00 - $63,000.00 Annually Tipped/Service Charge Eligible? No Discretionary Performance Bonus Eligible? No

Overview

Assist in supervising the daily operations of the Banquet areas across properties (Marriott Oceanfront and Embassy Suites) to achieve customer satisfaction, quality service, and compliance with local and corporate standard operating procedures. Support leadership in managing multi-property event execution, ensuring consistency in service standards and product delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with supervising and directing Banquet associates, including captains, servers, lead housemen, and housemen across dual-property operations.
  • Support the hiring process, scheduling, training, coaching, counseling, and performance evaluation of banquet staff.
  • Oversee daily on-the-floor operations (monitoring setups, food and beverage preparation, and service) ensuring strict compliance with SOPs, Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), and safety regulations.
  • Meet directly with event hosts and clients on-site to review BEOs, accommodate last-minute changes, resolve immediate concerns, and ensure smooth event execution.
  • Verify the accuracy of banquet checks, present them to clients for signature, and process charges accurately.
  • Assist in calculating and preparing daily service charges and payroll for prompt submission to the Accounting Department.
  • Monitor, maintain, and enforce equipment care, sanitation, and physical maintenance across all banquet storage and event spaces.
  • Maintain flexible scheduling availability to support high-volume periods, late-night events, and weekend functions across both properties.
  • Step in to assist team members with hands-on setup, service, or breakdown as needed to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Banquet Manager or Director of Banquets.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education

  • Post-high school education or degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1+ years of supervisor or lead experience in hospitality banquet operations, catering, or food & beverage management.
  • Dual-property or hotel banquet management experience preferred.

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of hotel banquet/catering food and beverage services, standards, and operations.
  • Familiarity with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, catering management software, and general computer systems.
  • Ability to process basic banquet math, compile reporting figures, and review event billing according to established procedures.
  • Hands-on leadership style with a strong "pitch-in" mindset and dedication to teamwork.
  • Basic understanding of hotel operations, quality assurance programs, safety standards, and labor management.
  • Strong organization, multi-tasking, and priority-setting skills necessary to coordinate operations between two properties.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under tight event deadlines and high-pressure situations.

Clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests, vendors, and staff.
