Description
Food & Nutrition Administration (FNA) is the Federal Agency responsible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Eligible households are provided with benefits to purchase food at SNAP authorized stores. Stores interested in participating in SNAP must submit an application and allow and participate in an unannounced visit. Information collected during the unannounced store visit is part of the evaluation process. The role of the SNAP RISE Manager is to help support FNA program requirements and ensure data collected and reported to FNA is accurate and timely. The detailed information submitted for FNA review allows FNA staff to make informed decisions regarding retailer eligibility to join SNAP and help reduce food deserts in local communities. The RISE Advisor is hourly full-time (part-time available) team member that is responsible for providing the final human review of electronically submitted store visit reports before delivery to the client. As a member of the Review, Improvement, Support, and Excellence (RISE) team, the Advisor helps ensure that each deliverable is accurate, complete, timely, consistent, and client-ready.
The RISE Advisor approaches review as both a safeguard and a service. In addition to identifying needed corrections, the position provides clear guidance, practical support, and respectful feedback that helps store reviewers improve future performance. The ideal candidate is positive, dependable, detail-oriented, solutions-focused, and committed to teamwork. This is a production-focused role with measurable performance expectations. The position is dedicated almost exclusively to report review and Reviewer support, including reviewing reports, providing feedback, resolving deficiencies, and supporting report quality. Administrative duties are minimal and secondary to core review responsibilities.
This role also contributes to innovation and continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, sharing useful ideas, supporting updated procedures, and embracing technology, automation tools, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven solutions that improve review consistency, communication, and efficiency.
RISE Service Framework
- Review: Complete a thoughtful, consistent final human review that protects the accuracy, completeness, and readiness of client deliverables.
- Improvement: Use each review as an opportunity to help prevent repeat issues and strengthen future performance, procedures, and workflows.
- Support: Provide clear, timely, respectful, and practical guidance to store reviewers and teammates, including live telephone support when needed.
- Excellence: Maintain high standards for accuracy, responsiveness, professionalism, teamwork, and client service in every assignment.
Core Responsibilities
- Review electronically submitted store visit reports for accuracy, completeness, consistency, compliance with project requirements, and readiness for client delivery.
- Provide the final human touch by applying sound judgment, project knowledge, and attention to detail rather than relying solely on automated checks or written rules.
- Prioritize assigned reports and manage workload effectively to support established deadlines, prevent backlog, and maintain timely client delivery.
- Communicate positively and professionally with store reviewers regarding clarification requests, needed corrections, missing information, and opportunities for improvement.
- Place direct telephone calls to store reviewers when clarification, follow-up, coaching, or additional support is needed. Schedule or participate in individualized or group training sessions when directed or when recurring issues indicate that additional support would be beneficial.
- Use live conversation to provide the personal connection, immediate guidance, and collaborative problem-solving that cannot always be achieved through email or text communication.
- Provide feedback that is specific, respectful, actionable, and focused on helping the reviewer successfully complete the current assignment and improve future work.
- Escalate urgent, complex, repeated, or sensitive issues to the RISE Manager or project leadership in a timely manner.
- Identify recurring deficiencies, unclear instructions, workflow bottlenecks, and training needs, and share observations and recommendations with the RISE Manager.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and collaborative problem-solving to promote consistent review standards and shared understanding.
- Support teammates by sharing knowledge, answering questions, assisting with priority workloads, and contributing to a positive and dependable team environment.
- Follow established SOPs, review standards, job aids, client guidance, and project requirements while remaining adaptable as procedures and priorities evolve.
- Contribute ideas for practical process improvements, improved reviewer guidance, updated training resources, and more efficient review workflows.
- Use approved software platforms, automation tools, workflow systems, and AI-assisted solutions responsibly and accurately.
- Maintain clear documentation of review actions, communications, corrections, escalations, and final disposition within required systems.
- Demonstrate accountability for assigned work, responsiveness to team communications, and consistent follow-through on open items.
- Promote positivity, teamwork, innovation, and excellence by approaching challenges with professionalism, curiosity, fairness, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Mentor new Reviewers and serve as a resource to RISE contractors by providing procedural guidance, technical assistance, and support with complex issues.
- Schedule and facilitate Teams meetings and screensharing sessions with new Reviewers to review report feedback, address deficiencies, provide guidance, and support continued improvement.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and AI-powered tools to efficiently complete daily assignments and support team operations.
