Overview

Are you a construction professional ready to lead complex projects from pre-construction through building acceptance?

MBP is looking for a Construction Manager/Project Manager to join our team in the Greater Philadelphia metropolitan area. We seek candidates with 7 to 10 years of combined education and experience who bring progressive career development and demonstrated knowledge of the design and construction process. What You'll Do:

You will serve as an owner representative during the pre-construction, construction, and building acceptance phases of medium- to large-scale projects. Depending on a project's size and complexity, you may work as part of a collaborative team or operate independently, coordinating quality, cost, schedule, and contractor activities on behalf of the client/owner. You will interact directly with owners, designers, contractors, and specialty stakeholders to facilitate successful project delivery.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

    Collaborate with the project delivery team to proactively identify risks and issues and develop mitigation strategies
  • Review project schedules to verify they are complete, feasible, and reasonable; track progress against the accepted schedule
  • Lead and/or participate in progress meetings; prepare or review meeting minutes to verify completeness and accuracy
  • Provide quality management, including participation in preparatory/pre-installation meetings, and perform or oversee QA/QC inspections to verify work complies with contract requirements
  • Document and track issues through resolution by collaborating with contractors, designers, and owners
  • Review change order proposals for entitlement and price; lead or assist in negotiations
  • Coordinate reviews and testing with commissioning authorities and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Coordinate reviews or installations by third-party specialty stakeholders, consultants, or installers for electronic security, doors/hardware, IT/AV systems, and manufacturing/process systems and equipment
  • Coordinate punchlist and acceptance activities with the designer and other project stakeholders
  • Monitor and verify completion of closeout requirements, including owner training, operations and maintenance manuals, warranties, and stock materials


Qualifications

Who We Are Looking For

Experience:

  • 7 to 10 years of combined education and/or experience in the design and/or construction process
  • Progressive career development in construction contract administration, change management, construction quality assurance, construction management, field engineering, or related fields
  • Supporting the successful delivery of new and/or renovated facilities
  • Scheduling experience is not required but is desired

Education/Knowledge:

  • High school diploma or GED plus 15 years of related experience and/or education; or a Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field plus a minimum of 7 years of related experience
  • Working knowledge of basic mathematics, including computations based on field measurements
  • Considerable construction-related training or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job
  • Codes, materials, methods, and tools utilized in construction, repair, or renovation work
  • Construction practices, principles of construction management and project controls, with working knowledge in scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, and construction techniques

Preferred Certifications:

  • OSHA 30-hour certification (possess or obtain within 3 months of hire)
  • Construction Quality Management (CQM) - preferred
  • Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) - preferred
  • Certified Associate Construction Manager (CACM) - preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Work independently and handle all aspects of a project, including client interface, technical issues, documentation, and reporting
  • Tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive and complex issues and situations
  • Identify potential problems and derive recommended solutions from past experiences
  • Specialized expertise with quality assurance and quality control techniques
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, email, Internet navigation, project management information systems (PMIS), web-based tools, and other specialized equipment
  • Read and interpret plans and contract specifications
  • Communicate quality issues effectively and responsibly, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers (contractors, owners, subconsultants, designers, architects, and fellow team members)
  • Obtain and maintain required certifications
  • Stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions
  • Safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain

Guidance/Responsibility:

  • Provide owner representation across all project phases, coordinating quality, cost, schedule, and contractor activities to support successful project delivery
  • Exercise independent judgment in managing project activities based on size and complexity

The base salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $110,000.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on work location, qualifications, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
