Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing processes, workflows, and production data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain labor standards, time studies, capacity models, and production efficiency metrics.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and other operational excellence tools.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to reduce waste, improve throughput, enhance quality, and lower operating costs.
  • Assist in designing or improving plant layouts, workstations, material flow, and line balancing.
  • Partner with production teams to troubleshoot process constraints and improve daily operational performance.
  • Develop standard work instructions, process documentation, and training materials.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and prepare reports on productivity, utilization, efficiency, and cost savings.
  • Support capital improvement projects by providing process data, cost-benefit analysis, and implementation support.
  • Assist with automation implementation efforts on a limited basis, including:
    • Identifying manual processes that may benefit from automation.
    • Supporting equipment selection and justification.
    • Coordinating with automation vendors, maintenance, and engineering teams.
    • Helping ensure processes are ready for automation integration.
    • Supporting testing, training, and post-implementation performance tracking.
    • Ensure all process improvements comply with safety, quality, and operational standards

  • Reduced waste, downtime, and process variation.
  • Accurate labor standards and capacity models.
  • Successful execution of continuous improvement projects.
  • Effective support of automation-related initiatives with minimal disruption to production.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, operations, or industrial engineering environment preferred.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, process improvement, time studies, and production analysis.
  • Basic understanding of automation concepts, manufacturing equipment, robotics, or control systems preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with CAD, ERP/MRP systems, simulation software, or statistical analysis tools is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Lean Six Sigma certification or formal continuous improvement training.
  • Experience supporting capital equipment or automation projects.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing safety standards and ergonomic principles.
  • Ability to interpret production data and translate findings into practical improvement actions.
  • Strong understanding of material flow, capacity planning, and labor utilization.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing floor environments.
  • May require standing, walking, and observing production processes for extended periods.
  • Must be able to follow all required safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
