Job Description
ECU Libraries is seeking a Stacks Student Assistant to assist with operations within Joyner Library. The Stacks Student Assistant supports the library's mission by helping maintain an organized, accessible, and welcoming collection. This role focuses on shelving, shelf-reading, and retrieving materials, ensuring library users can efficiently locate the resources they need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately shelve books and other materials according to the library's classification system
  • Perform regular shelf-reading to maintain order and identify missing or misplaced items
  • Retrieve materials for holds and special requests
  • Assist with minor cleaning and organization of the stacks area
  • Provide directional assistance to patrons when appropriate


Qualifications:

  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Ability to lift, bend, and push book carts (up to approximately 40 lbs)
  • Strong organizational skills and commitment to maintaining accuracy

Schedule:

  • Flexible hours based on student's class schedule and library needs.
  • Typical hours available to work: (M-F) 9am - 6pm

GPA Requirement Minimum of 2.0
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
License/certification required
