Senior Windows/Azure Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Washington, DC

Job Summary

TheSenior Windows/Azure Infrastructure Engineer serves as a senior technical resource and Tier 3 escalation point for enterprise Microsoft infrastructure. This role focuses on Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, enterprise PKI, identity and access management, security, automation, and hybrid-cloud environments. The position is responsible for designing secure and scalable infrastructure, resolving complex technical issues, establishing technical standards, and supporting modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate has strong enterprise architecture experience and can work effectively with technical teams and customer leadership.

Job Responsibilities



  • Design, engineer, and support enterprise Windows infrastructure and Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, identity and access management, and Windows Server issues.
  • Design and maintain Active Directory Certificate Services and enterprise PKI solutions.
  • Support Azure architecture, governance, RBAC, SSO, Zero Trust, and hybrid-cloud integrations.
  • Configure, maintain, and upgrade Windows Server 2019, 2022, and 2025 environments.
  • Support physical and virtual server infrastructure, networking, storage, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, permissions, and file services.
  • Develop automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar tools.
  • Support security engineering, vulnerability remediation, CIS/STIG hardening, and federal compliance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Manage technical changes, incidents, and service requests through ServiceNow.
  • Develop technical documentation, standard operating procedures, diagrams, technical designs, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and customer leadership on infrastructure architecture and modernization initiatives.
  • Provide occasional after-hours or weekend support when required.


Job Requirements



  • 8+ years of progressive Windows infrastructure engineering or architecture experience with a bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience supporting cloud operations, engineering, or related environments.
  • 3+ years of senior or lead-level experience with enterprise Windows architecture and design.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Experience with IAM, SSO, RBAC, federated identity, SAML, OIDC, and OAuth.
  • Experience with PKI and Active Directory Certificate Services.
  • Experience with PowerShell and/or another scripting language.
  • Knowledge of Windows networking, including DNS, VPNs, load balancers, and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with federal security frameworks and standards, including NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, CIS, and/or STIG.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and client-facing communication skills.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) certification required.
  • Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification, such as Security+, GSEC, SSCP, or equivalent, required.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must be eligible for and successfully complete a Public Trust investigation.
  • Must reside in the greater Washington, DC area.
  • Must be available to provide onsite support at the client location as needed.

  • Hybrid/primarily remote position with occasional onsite support in the Washington, DC area.
  • Candidates must be local to the greater Washington, DC area.
  • Public Trust clearance is required before starting the position.
