Currently recruiting a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to provide diagnostic imaging services in the Department of Radiology at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC) in Fort Hood, Texas. The CT Technologist will perform routine and advanced CT imaging procedures in support of patients receiving care at this 24/7 military treatment facility. This is a full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week, with rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, federal holidays, and military training holidays. Shifts may be up to 12 hours based on Department of Radiology staffing and mission requirements. There are no on-call or call-back requirements.
DUTIES OF THE COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (CT) TECHNOLOGIST:
- Perform a wide variety of routine and advanced CT imaging procedures within the scope of applicable licensure, certifications, and documented competencies.
- Prepare for and perform examinations and procedures needed to support efficient patient throughput.
- Support other imaging technologists as needed and demonstrate flexibility in working assigned shifts based on department requirements.
- Provide meaningful technical assistance to radiologists and referring physicians.
- Adapt patient assessment, treatment, and care methods to accommodate the physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, age-specific, and developmental needs of each patient.
- Facilitate safe, efficient patient flow throughout the imaging process.
- Ensure completed examinations and images are properly scanned, processed, and stored.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment maintenance issues, image processing problems, and image archiving system issues.
- Report equipment malfunctions and other technical problems to the Chief or designee and provide appropriate follow-up.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and maintain imaging competencies established by department management.
- Participate in ongoing education related to safety and technical advances within the scope of practice.
- Follow established procedures and escalate problems or issues to the Chief or designee when appropriate.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect confidential information in the performance of assigned duties.
- Comply with applicable administrative and departmental policies, procedures, standards of care, and State and Federal requirements.
- Maintain professional standards related to behavior, appearance, attendance, confidentiality, professionalism, and reliability.
- Collaborate professionally with management, coworkers, physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare personnel to support an effective clinical environment.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (CT) TECHNOLOGIST:
- Required: Associate degree or higher.
- Required: Graduate of an academic program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). An equivalency determination may not be used as a substitute for the education requirement.
- Required: At least one year of CT experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Required: Basic computer experience.
- Required: Radiography (R) certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Required: Computed Tomography (CT) certification through ARRT within one year of hire.
- Required: Medical Radiologic Technologist credential through the Texas Medical Board.
- Must maintain all required licenses and credentials in a current, valid, unrestricted status and in good standing as applicable throughout performance of the contract. - Must meet the Basic Life Support (BLS) requirement identified by the PWS.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen for access to U.S. Government networks.
- Must successfully complete required credentialing and provide qualifying documentation before assignment.
- Must meet applicable background investigation, identity verification, installation access, and security requirements. Personnel requiring a Common Access Card (CAC) are subject to the applicable background investigation and fingerprint requirements.
- Must satisfy applicable occupational health requirements, including required physical examination, TB screening, immunizations, vaccinations, and other medical testing specified for assignment to CRDAMC. - Must be physically capable of performing the position's duties, including walking, standing, repetitive movement, and lifting up to 25+ pounds as required.
- Must complete required DHA, CRDAMC, information assurance, cybersecurity, HIPAA, and other mandatory initial and recurring training applicable to the position.
