What to Expect
Design, define, implement and sustain validated controls automation for melting equipment, molten aluminum transfer systems and emissions control equipment.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to gather requirements (e.g. functional system requirements, safety requirements, automation) for new melting, treatment and transfer systems
- Responsible for all controls related activities at GFTX Melt Centeresponsible for all controls related activities at GFTX Melt Center
- Use your exceptional programming abilities in all related software and hardware PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA Systems
- Be able to interface and assist the maintenance team in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures
- Be able to develop & maintain proper documentation of all electrical equipment and associated procedures
- Be able to identify weak areas of the production systems using root cause analysis and implement effective counter measures and controls improvements
- Drive improvements with controls logic to improve shop safety and delivery
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Controls Engineering, or equivalent experience.Other relevant combinations of training/experience may be considered
- Hands on. Must be able & willing to work primarily on the production floor with respective operations, facility, suppliers and manufacturing teams to solve problems and implement solutions and processes
- 5+ years of experience with design and programming of Siemens PLC and controls systems specific to combustion systems, emissions control and molten metal delivery
- Experience with 480-volt distribution systems, drives communication and setup, network knowledge, PID setup and tuning, safety integration and commissioning of complex controls systems
- Experience introducing new foundry equipment and controls systems into a production environment preferred
- Demonstrated project management abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
