| Position Summary |
UNC Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is part of the
UNC Department of Pediatrics and
UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our providers specialize in the diagnosis, treatment and management of hematological disorders and malignancies in children, adolescents and young adults. We offer the latest standard of care and experimental therapies for childhood blood disorders and cancer, with faculty involved in basic, translational, and clinical research within the University of North Carolina and in collaboration with national cooperative groups.
This position will serve as a Social Clinical Research Specialist within the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology/Oncology for a 2 year period. The Social Clinical Research Specialist is a full-time position dedicated to supporting sarcoma registry enrollment, tissue procurement research, and emerging clinical trial efforts. The Social Clinical Research Specialist will serve as the primary point of contact for patient identification, approach, screening, and informed consent for tissue banking, registry and specimen-based sarcoma research protocols, as well as new early-phase clinical trials. The Social Clinical Research Specialist is responsible for the management of Pediatric and Adult clinical research protocols, including leading efforts in gathering, compiling, and reporting data for a variety of research studies and study activities.
This role requires close collaboration with surgical oncology, pathology, and research teams to facilitate consent and procurement process. The Social Clinical Research Specialist will additionally support several research efforts for the non-profit organization, Rare Cancer Research Foundation. These efforts will involve support biobanking and
PRISM efforts - novel, individualized cancer testing for rare cancers. This position involves exposure to blood-borne pathogens and exposure to hazardous materials. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Management Preferences |
Experience working with data entry and reporting. |
