Overview: Cares for patients in the Emergency Department under direction of nursing staff. Schedule: PRN Shift: PRN ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The ED Technician Advanced role is required to meet unit competency and orientation requirements as defined for the ED Technician role, additionally demonstrating competency in: * Training/precepting new ED Technicians and/or EMT/Paramedic students in collaboration with the unit educator * Attaching patient to end-tidal CO2 monitoring (when applicable) * Managing and reporting collection devices:
* Competent in completing manual process for blood pressure and required reporting of abnormal values to supervising RN * Discontinue invasive devices under the direction of the supervising RN:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Completion of a CNA program or Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or graduate of a medical assistant program in a postsecondary school or college that has institutional accreditation by a regional accrediting commission or by a national accrediting organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education 12 months experience as an ED Technician for Mercyhealth or in another emergency department or 12 months experience as a pre hospital EMT CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE Certified as a Nursing Assistant in applicable state or Certified as a Medical Assistant through the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) or RMA certification through the AMT (American Medical Technologists) or CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) through NHA (National Healthcareer Association) or RMA through AAH (American Allied Health) or NCMA Certification through the NCCT that have also completed the education requirements. or Licensed as an EMT-B or EMT-A in applicable state Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days SUPERVISES Responsibilities include interviewing, and training CNAs; planning, assigning, and directing work PAY RANGE: $18.65 - $27.04Mercyhealth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
