As a General Maintenance Technician, you'll play an important role in supporting our facility while gaining hands-on experience working alongside experienced mechanics and electricians. Employees who show initiative, strong work ethic, and a commitment to learning will have opportunities to pursue additional training through Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) and enroll in our Industrial Maintenance Technician (IMT) or Electro-Mechanical Technician (EMT) apprenticeship programs.

Position Summary

The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting plant and facility operations through general repairs, building maintenance, improvement projects, and production support activities. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, take pride in maintaining a safe and efficient workplace, and are interested in developing the skills necessary for advancement into mechanic or electrician positions through apprenticeship and technical training opportunities.

Pay & Schedule

  • $22-$27 per hour, based on experience
  • Day Shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM) for one month, followed by Afternoon Shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM) for one week
  • Overtime opportunities available

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general facility maintenance, including painting, carpentry, wall repairs, flooring repairs, and landscaping.
  • Maintain offices, common areas, and plant facilities to support a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
  • Assist mechanics and electricians with equipment repairs, installations, and maintenance projects.
  • Participate in hands-on learning opportunities that support progression into IMT or EMT apprenticeship programs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on equipment and facility systems.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and other maintenance equipment (training provided).
  • Support equipment moves, installations, and facility improvement projects.
  • Maintain organized and clean work areas.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in maintenance, manufacturing, construction, mechanical repair, or technical trades is preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Strong attendance, reliability, and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire for long-term career growth.
  • Interest in pursuing technical training, apprenticeship opportunities, and advancement into mechanic or electrician roles.
  • Comfortable working in both office and industrial environments.
