This position is onsite and located in Silver Peak, Nevada. The successful candidate will work directly under the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager and will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs, procedures, and systems to comply with Federal, State, and local laws as well as environmental regulations from other applicable agencies in order to address potential environmental liabilities. In this role, you will work closely with site operations, maintenance, and capital project managers to support a variety of operational and expansion projects in Silver Peak. What You Will Do
- Conduct sampling and monitoring of environmental media.
- Review and analyze data to identify patterns or problems.
- Draft letters and reports for review by Environmental Manager.
- Perform site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and applicable permits.
- Develop, implement, and manage environmental policies and procedures, as directed.
- Work closely with the capital projects, operations, and corporate support functions to ensure consistent alignment, excellent communication, and a collaborative culture.
- Develop plans to prevent or mitigate damage to the environment and coordinate response to emergencies such as hydrocarbon spills or chemical leaks.
- Manage all aspects of the plant's Hazardous waste, Non-Regulated Waste, Solid waste, and Universal waste within Federal, State and Local guidelines.
- Participate in community and industry organizations and events to promote collaboration and environmental awareness.
- Assist with the application of environmental regulations.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, auditors and other third parties during multi-media inspections and information requests.
- Monitors air and water quality and identifies hazardous pollutants that may pose a threat to the environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring Required:
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate environmental science, permitting, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience required.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
- Competency in both OSHA and MSHA compliance.
- Action oriented with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and be self-directed.
- Team player with the ability to proactively engage and collaborate.
- Ability to communicate effectively with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with technology and equipment used in environmental monitoring.
- Experience in using software and programs such as SAP, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Adobe.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, extended periods of time standing and sitting.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with environmental permitting authorities and processes (air, water, land use) within the State of Nevada.
