The Department of Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago seek a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor to serve as a Transfusion Services faculty Director.

This faculty position reports to the Chief of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Lurie Children's Hospital. Title (Associate Director or Director) and scope of responsibility are commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position helps provide clinical, scientific, and operational leadership for the Transfusion Services Laboratory and select point-of-care testing sites. Directors offer expert consultation and convey the medical relevance of laboratory findings to referring providers. They participate in the delivery and management of therapeutic apheresis services. In partnership with departmental and administrative leadership, Directors are responsible for the quality of testing, the development of new tests, regulatory compliance, and the financial performance of the laboratory. They perform substantive research that leverages partnership opportunities within and outside the Department and effectively integrates and translates research insights to improve clinical care. They promote teaching by providing leadership for and participation in the education of medical students, residents, fellows, and staff. Provide leadership in area of expertise to the department and its affiliated institutions.

Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O board certification in Clinical Pathology or a clinical discipline related to pediatric medicine

    • Board certification or eligibility in Transfusion Medicine (Required)
    • Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to medical education and scholarly pursuits, with experience teaching medical students, residents, and fellows
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills required

The start date is negotiable and the position will remain open until filled.

The expected base pay range for this position is $240,000 - $430,000.

Lurie Children's Hospital and Northwestern University have provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.

This position is located at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago; however, applications must be submitted online through Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
