Regional Oncology Float Registered Nurse (RN) - Northeast Texas Region

Texas Oncology is seeking a Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) to join our North East Texas Regional Float Pool Team! In this role, you'll provide essential cross-coverage support in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Infusion nursing units, rotating through select clinics throughout the NETX Region.

Our Regional Float Pool offers the support of a dedicated team, along with the flexibility of diverse assignments across the North East Region.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, daytime hours
Perks: No weekends, on-call, or major holidays

Clinics within NETX: Frisco, Frisco West, Allen, McKinney South, McKinney North, Plano East/West, Plano Presbyterian, Garland, Rowlett, Castle Hills Lewisville, Flower Mound, Denton, Denison, Decatur, and Greenville

What You'll Do as a Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)?

The Float Pool RN provides professional nursing care in alignment with national standards, company guidelines, and the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. You'll serve as a clinical resource and liaison while adapting quickly to diverse assignments.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assessing, planning, coordinating, and evaluating patient care.
• Conducting health assessments, obtaining patient histories, and providing education.
• Offering psychosocial support to patients and families.
• Safely preparing and administering therapies (medications, blood products) in accordance with governing standards.
• Performing venipuncture, accessing ports, and maintaining central lines.
• Monitoring labs, facilitating dose modifications per protocol, and consulting with providers for orders.
• Managing triage calls, symptom management, and medication management with accurate documentation.
• Assisting patients in accessing community resources.
• Opportunity to cross-train and expand into subspecialty areas (Gyn Onc, BMT, Pediatrics) as the Float Pool role evolves.
• Following the Nursing Float Pool Playbook for role- and assignment-specific expectations.

What We're Looking For:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
• 1-5 years of nursing experience (Oncology strongly preferred).
• Entry, mid, or senior-level candidates welcome.
• Current and active RN license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills to thrive in diverse clinical environments.

Preferred Skills:

• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or prior oncology/infusion/radiation experience.
• Strong IV and central line skills.
• Comfort supporting multiple areas of oncology care, with interest in developing skills in subspecialties such as Gyn Onc, BMT, or Pediatrics.
• Excellent critical thinking and communication abilities.
• Comfort with EHR systems (OncoEMR, Epic, or similar).
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
