Data Security Engineer I

We are seeking a highly motivated engineering graduate that is ready to join our Data Security Engineering team to contribute to efforts to meet the cybersecurity needs of the FAA, Civilian and Military programs. This opportunity offers the successful applicant the opportunity to protect our nation's critical infrastructure from cyber-attacks. Further, you will be provided with opportunities to work with our avionics design engineers to determine the best methods to ensure Astronautics produces cyber-resilient products.

In this role, the Data Security Engineer will:

• Evaluate different cybersecurity risk methodologies for Avionics systems
• Perform cybersecurity risk/safety assessments on aviation related systems, including analytical assessment, supplemental testing, and mitigating of risks.
• Develop cybersecurity requirements and controls, support development of risk mitigation plans for vulnerability, and support certification and evaluation effort.
• Support design and development of cybersecurity architecture and documentation.
• Apply the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) controls and policies, and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to the system design and implementation.
• Attend and be an active participant at industry aerospace cybersecurity groups, industry forums, and working groups.

Education and Experience

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering (Software or Systems Preferred) or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
• Demonstrated systems thinking skills (i.e., ability to recognize how changes at the component level can impact the overall system and vice versa)
• Ability to understand or have working knowledge of Cross Domain Solution
• Experience with Linux Operating System and scripting
• Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work on U.S. Government Programs
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with software languages, including C, C++, Java, and Python.
• Familiar with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process
• Capable of working independently in a lab environment
• Ability to travel up to 10%
