- Do you love the challenge of balancing clear, persuasive copy with keyword data, search intent, and performance tracking?
If so, we want to talk to you. Measuring the impact of your efforts and driving qualified inquiries for our clients is what this role is all about.
Our typical client roster represents a balance of high-impact work:
- 75% Local Service & Trade Businesses: Crafting hyper-local, high-converting service pages, location silos, and intent-driven content for regional businesses (contractors, commercial services, professional practices, specialized trades, etc.).
- 25% B2B Technical & Managed Services: Translating complex technical subjects (managed IT, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and hardware/software solutions) into clear, credible, authoritative copy for enterprise and B2B buyers.
Content at Key Web serves a specific purpose: driving search visibility, calls, and qualified inquiries for our clients. We're seeking a writer who balances sharp, engaging copy with a genuine interest in search metrics, keyword data, and ongoing performance tracking.
What You'll Do
- High-Intent Web Copywriting (75%): Write compelling, search-optimized landing pages, blogs, localized service silos, and conversion copy for regional service businesses that balance local ranking factors with genuine human persuasion.
- Technical B2B & IT Content (25%): Conduct independent subject-matter research to write authoritative, jargon-free service pages, technical blogs, and capability overviews for managed IT and technology services.
- Keyword & Search Intent Research: Uncover user intent, keyword difficulty, local search volume, and competitor content gaps using tools like SEMrush, Google Search Console, etc.
- On-Page SEO Execution: Build out complete on-page optimizations for every asset: title tags, meta descriptions, semantic header structures (H1-H3), internal linking strategies, conversion-focused calls to action (CTAs), etc.
- Data Analysis & Performance Reporting: Monitor rankings, traffic quality, and conversion events in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Looker Studio. Use this data to recommend content updates, prune underperforming pages, and resolve keyword challenges.
- Team Collaboration: Work directly with web designers, developers, and account managers to ensure written content aligns with page layout, user experience, and technical site architecture.
What We're Looking For
- At least 2+ years of professional digital copywriting experience, preferably within an agency environment.
- Proven Local SEO Acumen: A solid grasp of local search ranking factors, geo-targeted keyword strategies, service area silos, and search intent.
- Technical Research Skills: You don't need an IT background, but you have the curiosity and research discipline to dive into technical B2B topics (like IT infrastructure or cybersecurity) and write about them credibly.
- Data-Comfortable: You are comfortable working with spreadsheets, analytics dashboards, and performance metrics, using data to inform how a page is structured.
- Tool Proficiency: Practical, hands-on experience with Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), WordPress, and SEO suites (SEMrush, Ahrefs, or similar). Experience with Looker Studio is a plus.
- Clarity & Precision: A clean, punchy writing style focused on clarity, user action, and brand authority.
- Have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines.
