Aircraft Quality Assurance Technical Inspector

We are seeking an experienced Depot-Level Aircraft Quality Assurance Technical Inspector to ensure aircraft, aircraft components, and maintenance activities comply with company Quality Management System (QMS) processes, procedures, applicable standards, and approved technical data. This position performs independent visual and physical inspections and evaluations of aircraft, components, parts, products, and raw materials to verify conformity to established requirements. The Inspector will identify and document discrepancies, verify corrective actions, and provide technical assistance to maintenance and production personnel in determining appropriate solutions to maintenance and quality issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong military aviation maintenance background and depot-level experience, with the technical knowledge and judgment necessary to support aircraft safety, quality, reliability, and customer requirements.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform independent quality inspections of aircraft, aircraft structures, components, systems, assemblies, and depot-level maintenance activities.
  • Conduct receiving, in-process, final, acceptance, and other required inspections in accordance with established procedures and inspection requirements.
  • Inspect aircraft and components for defects, damage, improper installation, workmanship deficiencies, corrosion, contamination, leaks, and other nonconformances.
  • Verify maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification, and assembly work complies with applicable technical orders, maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, OEM requirements, approved repair procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Exercise independent inspection authority to accept or reject completed work based on applicable technical and quality requirements.
  • Identify, document, and communicate discrepancies and maintenance deficiencies to appropriate production, engineering, and quality personnel.
  • Verify completion of corrective actions and perform required re-inspections before accepting repaired or reworked items.
  • Review work orders, inspection records, aircraft records, maintenance documentation, and electronic quality records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Verify required certifications, signatures, traceability, material documentation, and other quality records are properly completed and maintained.
  • Ensure discrepancies are accurately documented, dispositioned, corrected, and properly closed.
  • Monitor and enforce applicable quality and maintenance-control programs, including Foreign Object Damage/Debris (FOD), tool control, calibration, special processes, hazardous-material controls, and other applicable safety and quality requirements.
  • Verify that inspection, measurement, and test equipment used during maintenance activities is properly calibrated and controlled.
  • Maintain independence from production activities while providing objective verification of maintenance quality and compliance.
  • Interpret and apply technical data, engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, specifications, and other approved technical requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and clarification to maintenance personnel regarding inspection criteria, workmanship standards, technical requirements, and quality procedures.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, maintenance, and quality organizations to resolve technical discrepancies and nonconformances.
  • Support evaluation and disposition of unusual conditions, repair requirements, and quality-related issues in accordance with approved processes.
  • Identify recurring discrepancies, workmanship deficiencies, and process weaknesses and communicate trends to appropriate quality and management personnel.
  • Support root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives designed to reduce recurring defects and improve maintenance quality, reliability, and process effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate inspection documentation and quality records in accordance with applicable organizational, customer, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
  • Promote a quality-focused culture by ensuring aircraft maintenance activities meet established safety, workmanship, technical, and airworthiness requirements.
  • Perform all inspection and quality responsibilities in accordance with applicable company procedures, regulatory requirements, customer requirements, and established aircraft maintenance standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.

Desired Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of depot-level aircraft maintenance, overhaul, repair, modification, and inspection processes.
  • Strong understanding of military aviation maintenance practices, procedures, terminology, and organizational structure.
  • Knowledge of military technical orders (TOs), technical manuals, engineering drawings, specifications, and approved technical data.
  • Experience with aircraft quality assurance/quality control, independent inspections, nonconformance reporting, and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems, structures, components, materials, fasteners, corrosion control, and general aircraft workmanship standards.
  • Familiarity with FOD, tool control, calibration, NDI/NDT, material traceability, and other aviation quality programs.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and determine compliance with maintenance, engineering, and customer requirements.
  • Ability to identify, document, and resolve aircraft maintenance discrepancies and quality deficiencies.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate inspection and maintenance records.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain quality inspection objectivity and authority separate from production.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively with maintenance, engineering, production, quality, and military/customer personnel.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-tempo depot maintenance environment while maintaining safety, quality, and technical compliance.

Preferred Military Background:

  • Prior U.S. military aviation maintenance experience, preferably at the depot or equivalent maintenance level.
  • Experience as an Aircraft Quality Assurance/Quality Control Inspector, Aircraft Mechanic, Crew Chief, Aviation Maintenance Technician, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting military aircraft overhaul, modification, repair, or modernization programs.
  • Experience working with military aircraft maintenance records, technical orders, inspection requirements, and configuration management.
  • Experience working directly with military customers, government representatives, engineering, and production organizations.
  • Military aviation maintenance training, certifications, or inspection qualifications are highly desirable.

Required Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma / Equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of Six (6) years Aviation Inspection experience.
  • Must have an A & P License or a Military School Certification.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be required to operate a government general purpose vehicle
  • Willingness to travel
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance
