ABOUT THE ROLE

The Payroll & Billing Assistant is responsible for the daily activities and administration of payroll and billing activities while assisting management. Will be responsible for Payroll - bargaining employee time entry, Accounts Receivable - generate billing, invoicing and cleint portals, Union Reporting - benefits reporting.

Essential Functions

  • District payroll for bargaining employees ensuring accuracy and compliance with union and corporate guidelines

  • Review and enter timecards

  • Process unemployment claims

  • Prepare interim checks

  • Prepare union reports and certified payrolls

  • Review reports and correct errors in a timely manner while communicating with employees and management

  • Accounts Receivable - Prepare customer billing and track progress to elicit timely payment, ensure revenue is booked correctly; entry of billing in proprietary client systems (i.e., ACIS) and storm billings

  • Industry Specific Needs - perform timely, accurate union benefit reporting and customer required reporting (diversity, monthly hours, etc.)

  • Assist team with the performance of any of the above as needed

  • Acceptable levels of productivity, quality work product, compliance with company policy and regular attendance

  • Attend and assist meetings, gatherings, etc. at the behest of the Office Manager

  • Other duties as assigned


ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years payroll operations experience
  • Understanding of cost, financials, and accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database use.

Other:

  • Valid driver's license required to operate company or personal vehicle for company business.
  • Must be able to present acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorizations per the Federal I-9 requirement.

Desired:

  • Experience in a multi-state payrolls, garnishments and construction environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Accounting, Finance or related field

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively relate to employees at all levels

  • Highly detail-oriented, focused and able to think practically

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure

  • Able to self-start and work with minimal supervision

  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and JD Edwards

  • Thorough understanding of payroll, AR, and other administrative and industry-specific needs

    • Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
