Position Summary The Production Laborer is an entry-level manufacturing position responsible for supporting operations throughout the facility. This position serves as a developmental role designed to build the skills necessary for advancement into specialized production and operator positions. Employees in this role will receive cross-training in multiple operational areas including melt, furnace support, heat make-up, ladle operations, belt/pan operations, packaging, shipping, and general plant support. The employee will be assigned to areas based on production needs, staffing requirements, and business priorities while maintaining safe, efficient, and quality-focused operations. Essential Functions - The essential functions described in this job description encompass duties performed across several production areas. An employee's daily responsibilities will be determined by their assigned work area, qualifications, training, and operational requirements. Not all duties will be performed at the same time or during every shift.
Qualifications Education and Experience * High school diploma or equivalent. * Experience in manufacturing, foundry, melt shop, steel, metals, or heavy industrial environment strongly preferred. Competencies * Ability to safely operate industrial equipment and tools after training. * Basic math and computer skills. * Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety. * Ability to work varying shifts, overtime, weekends, and 12-hour schedules as needed. * Ability to adapt to changing work assignments and priorities. * Ability to operate a weight scale to weigh pans pre/post production runs to calculate final weights Physical Demands - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position requires the use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, gloves, safety footwear, and flame-resistant clothing where required. Work is performed primarily in a heavy industrial manufacturing and melt shop environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, vibration, moving equipment, uneven surfaces, and varying temperatures. Employees are expected to become proficient in multiple operational areas and may be reassigned between departments based on business needs. Standard work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 11:00pm - 7:00am with overtime/weekend work when required based on production and business needs. Compensation for this role is $22.50/hour + $2.00/hour Shift Differential!! *Sign-on bonus is distributed in 3 installments following 30, 60, and 90 days of continuous employment.
