Technical Documentation Specialist with experience

No Third Party Solicitation Location: Orem, UT (hybrid) Local candidates only Duration: 6 months+ contract Description: Architecture Documentation * Author, format, and maintain enterprise architecture documents, including standards, reference architectures, and decision records. * Apply consistent branding, templates, terminology, and version conventions across all architecture artifacts. * Identify and remediate gaps, stale content, and inconsistencies in the architecture record. * Maintain document lifecycle status, ownership, and revision history. Diagramming & Modeling Support * Create and maintain C4 model diagrams, including system context, container, and component views. * Produce data flow and integration diagrams reflecting current and target-state architectures. * Ensure diagrams remain consistent with published standards and their source systems. Architecture Governance Support * Prepare and maintain Architecture Review Board (ARB) materials, including decision records and technology exception documentation. * Track post-approval conditions, handoffs, and status through to closure. * Support scheduling, agendas, and documentation for architecture review sessions. Enterprise Inventories & Repository * Maintain canonical EA tracking artifacts, including the API inventory and database inventory. * Manage architecture artifacts and metadata in the enterprise architecture repository (Orbus iServer / APM). * Ensure relationships, ownership, and lifecycle status are captured and kept current. Enterprise Architecture * Work under the direction of the Principal Enterprise Architect. * Align documentation with Enterprise Architecture standards and governance. * Participate in architecture reviews and technical design discussions. Knowledge Transfer * Document EA standards, templates, and reference architectures for reuse. * Provide knowledge transfer sessions to Digital Transformation staff on documentation practices. * Preserve institutional knowledge to reduce key-person risk. Documentation Program Context Digital Transformation division is building out an enterprise architecture governance documentation ecosystem spanning software development standards, ARB decision records, C4 diagrams, and enterprise inventories. The Architecture Documenter will maintain and extend this ecosystem, ensuring artifacts remain accurate, consistently branded, and governance-ready. This role supports architecture decision-making but is not responsible for making architecture decisions or authoring solution designs. Desired Deliverables * Current, consistently branded enterprise architecture documentation * Maintained C4 model and data flow diagram sets * ARB decision records and technology exception documentation * Up-to-date API and database inventories * A maintained EA repository (Orbus APM) with accurate metadata * Documentation standards, templates, and reference architectures * Knowledge transfer materials for Digital Transformation staff Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Technical Communication, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. * Minimum three (3) years of experience in technical documentation, enterprise architecture support, or a closely related role. * Demonstrated ability to produce clear, structured, professionally formatted technical documentation. * Strong written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts into plain language. * Proficiency with document production and diagramming tools, such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and a diagramming platform (Lucid, Visio, or draw.io). * Strong attention to detail, consistency, and version discipline.
