Casual Nonexempt

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Minnesota occasionally needs to hire employees on a casual basis through the year. These positions perform a variety of nonacademic and/ or academic work responsibilities in a temporary or casual work schedule.

Casual: Limited to working 14 or fewer hours per week

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Collaborate with Department of Chemistry faculty and/ or research staff to facilitate ongoing research
• Gather and analyze data
• Administrative support tasks

This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2026-2027 fiscal year (July 2026 - June 2027). Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis. Appointments are based on need, funding, and performance.

• High school diploma and one year relevant experience or combination of education and experience

Pay Range: $15.25 - $18.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
