Job Description

About the role:

Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor or Team Lead, provides training and support to Machine Tender/Packers; ensures production of quality products and properly packages finished goods; observes all safety rules and conducts assigned duties in a safe manner. Key Job Accountabilities * Follows all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Performs duties in a safe manner and reports all observed safety hazards to the Production Supervisor or other management personnel. Leads by example and maintains a safe environment for self and coworkers. Participates in the Safety programs by doing safety observations, submitting Unsafe Act, Unsafe Condition, Close Call etc. * Ensures a quality product through regular quality checks by reading and verifying line orders and spec sheets. Conducts regular product quality checks and reports any out of spec products to the appropriate personnel immediately. Follows all ISO processes and procedures as established for the plant. * Ensures that correct product is running and proper packaging is being used by conducting periodic line audits. Addresses any quality issues immediately and notifies Senior Operator of any discrepancies. * Contribute to the smooth operation of their section, by partnering with the Senior Operators to ensure safety, quality, production, and housekeeping meet or exceed world class standards. * Ensures that Packers have sufficient and correct supplies to package products. Coordinates with Packaging Handlers for correct quantities of materials. Leaves adequate packaging and supplies for oncoming crew (at least to table height for next shift). * Participates in the evaluation of Packers and provides on-going feedback to Production Supervisor on performance, quality and safety issues. * Motivates and coaches team members through good communication and feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed. Provides on the job training for Packers as required. * Participates in employee driven teams to address scrap, quality, safety or other production related issues. * Logs a variety of production data and inputs into automated tracking systems as needed. Prints Traveler reports and provides them to Packers after product changes or after completion of a work order to verify that the correct product is running and correct packaging supplies are being used. * Maintains a neat and orderly work area; meets or exceeds plant and department housekeeping standards. May be assigned additional housekeeping responsibilities throughout the plant as needed to maintain a clean and orderly workspace. * Properly packages finished goods to include correct use of labels, chips, sleeves, twist ties, pallet patterns and code stamps. Responsible for proper packaging of all finished goods to achieve the

best cosmetic presentation possible. Responsible for verifying and executing pallet patterns. Stretch wraps, prints labels, and places labels on finished pallets. * Identifies and orders packaging and supply needs and stocks after delivery. Returns packaging and supplies to appropriate holding areas and prints JDE labels, if necessary. * May conduct pre-shift meeting with employees to provide information on production, quality, safety, policy issues; trains new Packers and other Lead Packers; may assist in the inventory process. Supervisory Responsibilities * Coordinates Packer activities such as line assignments and rotation, responsibilities when lines go down, breaks and lunches, etc. Assists Packers with packing, troubleshooting, equipment operation and housekeeping responsibilities as needed.
