Position Title:Surgery Support Technician - Pediatric - Full Time - Days Department:Pediatric OR Job Description:

General Description: Under immediate supervision, the Surgical Support Technician is responsible for a variety of duties in support of the Surgical Suites

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities, with or without an accommodation, may result in disqualification from the position.

  • Transports patients, specimens, supplies, blood, and equipment as directed.

  • Ensures all procedures are followed for the safe transport of blood and other specimens.

  • Responsible for transporting patients and families to appropriate areas or waiting rooms.

  • Observes and communicates any changes, such as patient not being ready, to the OR desk or charge nurse.

  • May be required to take emergency action.

  • Helps move and position patients in the Surgical Suite as needed.

  • Completes required documentation.

  • Immediately reports any changes in patient's condition during transport.

  • Performs daily and/or weekly cleaning within the Surgical Suites.

  • Follows established procedures and guidelines for cleaning operating rooms.

  • Maintains the cleanliness of the department which includes cleaning hallways, bathrooms, lounges, and supply areas.

  • Complies with all relevant procedures and regulations related to hospital sanitation, cleanliness, and safety.

  • Ensures that all procedures and regulations for proper disposal of waste items and material are followed.

  • Responsible for restocking supplies, linens, and solutions.

  • Performs other support services as requested.

General Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience: No experience required.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform tasks in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with hospital staff and patients.

  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to perform effectively in an emergency situation.
