Work Arrangement: Traveling Position

This is a traveling maintenance position and is not a traditional work-from-home role. While the position may be classified as "Remote," employees are expected to travel extensively in support of aircraft maintenance operations.

The Manager, Flight Maintenance works a 20 days on / 10 days off rotational schedule and may be dispatched to locations throughout the United States and internationally based on operational needs. Employees may generally reside anywhere within the United States, provided they have reliable access to a commercial airport and can meet required travel and reporting expectations.

During the 20-day work rotation, the employee should expect to travel to and remain at field locations as assigned to support aircraft maintenance missions.



Position Summary

The Manager, Flight Maintenance is responsible for managing all aspects of line maintenance for their assigned aircraft. This position tracks, coordinates, and ensures the timely correction of technical discrepancies while providing accurate aircraft status information to key operational stakeholders.

The Manager, Flight Maintenance leads efforts to ensure assigned aircraft remain in a safe, airworthy, reliable, and compliant condition. This is a highly mobile role requiring significant domestic and international travel to support aircraft maintenance operations wherever needed.

Major Job Accountabilities

  • Supervises Technical Representative(s) and/or Line Maintenance Supervisor(s) as assigned.
  • Coordinates personnel schedules to provide adequate manpower coverage in support of aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Ensures the safe and efficient maintenance of company aircraft within assigned stations and/or geographic areas in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages, coordinates, and provides oversight of contract line maintenance within assigned stations and/or geographic areas.
  • Ensures personnel under their supervision are trained and qualified in accordance with GMM policies and procedures.
  • Monitors training, qualifications, and proficiency levels of maintenance personnel at assigned locations.
  • Monitors flight schedules and fleet status to ensure the best use of resources, available ground time, and aircraft routing.
  • Coordinates line maintenance requirements with Maintenance Control Center (MCC), Workload Planning, Materials, Quality Control, Aircraft Planning, and other supporting departments.
  • Maintains surveillance of line maintenance activity at assigned stations and field locations.
  • Provides resources, leadership, and technical support during major mechanical events and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations.
  • Identifies recurring maintenance issues and recommends changes to improve operational efficiency and aircraft reliability.
  • Coordinates the timely repair of deferred maintenance items on aircraft transiting assigned stations and/or geographic areas.
  • Ensures shift turnover and work interruption procedures are followed so incomplete maintenance work is properly communicated and completed before an aircraft is returned to service.
  • Ensures the timely return of complete and accurate aircraft maintenance log pages to MCC.
  • Coordinates with MCC regarding maintenance requirements and aircraft status.
  • Monitors aircraft mechanical issues and aircraft and powerplant performance, including Repeat Item and Oil Watch Programs.
  • Develops corrective action plans for mechanical problems and deferred maintenance items in coordination with MCC.
  • Maintains communication with Regional Management to ensure the cost-effective application of maintenance resources.
  • Maintains liaison with Ground Operations and Flight Operations to support safe and dependable operations.
  • Enforces safety procedures and practices outlined in company manuals and applicable industry standards.
  • Travels to field locations throughout the United States and internationally to support aircraft maintenance operations as assigned.
  • Performs duties and responsibilities away from their home location for extended periods during their scheduled rotation.
  • Flies on company aircraft as assigned to support aircraft operations around the world.
  • Performs self-audits of assigned stations and/or geographic areas as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of aircraft maintenance experience required.
  • Must hold a current and valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
  • Must maintain Atlas Air qualifications and authorizations for Airworthiness Release and ETOPS.
  • Experience on 747/767 aircraft or equivalent wide-body aircraft preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.


Special Demands / Travel Requirements

  • This position requires extensive travel and should be viewed as a traveling aircraft maintenance role rather than a traditional remote/work-from-home position.
  • Must be able to work a 20 days on / 10 days off rotational schedule.
  • During the 20-day rotation, employees may be assigned to domestic or international locations based on operational and aircraft maintenance needs.
  • Employees may generally reside anywhere within the United States, provided they have reliable access to a commercial airport and can meet all required travel and reporting expectations.
  • Must be able and willing to travel on short notice when operational needs require.
  • Extensive domestic and international travel is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Must possess a valid US driver's license.
  • Must be able to work variable hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, during scheduled rotations.
  • May be required to travel aboard company aircraft in support of maintenance missions.


Skills

  • Working knowledge of all aspects of aircraft maintenance, including mechanical, structural, and avionics systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate maintenance activity across multiple departments and locations.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly mobile operational environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Competitive compensation will be offered based on a variety of factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal equity and other factors. In addition, a range of benefits to include medical, dental and vision insurance, employee assistance program, as well as generous paid time off, and 401K contributions are offered as a part of the total compensation package.

$101,500 $138,000 USD
