Job Description

The Restorative Therapy Technician provides restorative therapy programs under the direction of physical, occupational, and speech therapists. This role helps residents maintain and improve their independence with mobility, self-care, positioning, and other daily activities. The technician provides individualized or small-group support, documents services, and reports changes in resident function to nursing and therapy staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide restorative therapy programs under the direction of licensed therapists.

  • Assist residents with mobility, ambulation, activities of daily living, feeding, positioning, range of motion, contracture management, and other restorative programs.

  • Support residents in maintaining their highest level of independence and function.

  • Monitor functional maintenance programs completed by CNA staff and communicate concerns to therapy or nursing staff.

  • Recognize and promptly report changes or declines in resident function.

  • Accurately document resident encounters and services provided.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.

  • Promote resident safety, quality care, and a positive experience.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • One year of medical-related experience in a long-term care or hospital setting as a rehabilitation technician, certified nursing assistant, or similar role.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Reliable, responsible, and able to use sound judgment and initiative.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Restorative Nurse Assistant (CRNA) or equivalent certification.

  • Knowledge of basic restorative nursing principles and practices.

  • Understanding of restorative care philosophy.

  • Relevant college coursework in patient care.
