RSM's Finance as a Service (FaaS) practice is seeking skilled professionals to join our Family Office Accounting Team at the Supervisor level. Our practice blends the best of both worlds by providing career growth, professional development, and advancement opportunities that come with a public accounting firm, while offering exposure to family office environments on a daily basis.

We provide accounting, technology, and consulting services to family offices, family enterprises, and other complex ownership structures, including investment entities, trusts, foundations, and operating businesses. In other words, we serve as an extension of our clients' accounting and finance functions. In addition, you will have the ability to learn and efficiently use our best-in-class cloud-based technology stack.

  • Curiosity and commitment to continuous learning, including best practices in accounting, investments, tax-related reporting, and family office operations
  • Willingness to learn and work with emerging technology solutions such as OCR (Optical Character Recognition), AI (Artificial Intelligence), and accounting bots

Responsibilities:
This is a hands-on position that requires experience supporting private clients, investment entities, and complex ownership structures. Duties include:

  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients and their advisors, supporting accounting, reporting, tax-related information requests, and other family office needs
  • Lead, manage, and coach global team members, including client service representatives, associates, and senior associates
  • Support clients' period-end close processes across multiple legal entities, including reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany activity, partnership allocations, capital account activity, and investment and capital-related transactions
  • Review financial statements, management reports, and investment-related reporting across multiple entities, including entity-level and consolidated reporting, period-over-period variance analysis, and/or actual-to-budget analysis
  • Identify opportunities to enhance client service delivery, strengthen relationships, and expand services while improving operational efficiencies, internal controls, and reporting processes
  • Utilize and promote emerging technologies, automation tools, AI-enabled solutions, and other components of the firm's technology stack to drive efficiencies across accounting, reporting, and period-end close processes
  • Define and document repeatable methodologies, procedures, and templates that can be leveraged across client engagements
  • Assist with engagement budgeting and resource planning, while monitoring project progress, timelines, and overall engagement performance
  • Participate in assessments, implementations, and onboarding activities for new clients, including understanding legal entity structures, investment holdings, reporting requirements, and key service-provider relationships
  • Collaborate with tax, investment, legal, and other advisors to support the delivery of integrated family office services
  • Participate in business development activities, prospective client meetings, and proposal processes, including family office and family enterprise opportunities

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate proactively and handle confidential financial information with discretion
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple client priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Experience supporting private clients and/or high-net-worth individuals
  • Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state income tax principles as they relate to high-net-worth individuals, trusts, partnerships, and investment entities
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to investment accounting, partnership allocations, investment entities, and complex ownership structures
  • Experience preparing and reviewing accounting write-up work and financial statements
  • Experience with automated accounting and reporting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite, BlackLine, Ramp, BILL, etc.); experience with Addepar or Masttro preferred but not required
  • CPA preferred but not required

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $85,100 - $161,700

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
