The Department of Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time tenure eligible or tenure track Investigator at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The position will be housed within the Department of Surgery at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago with cross-functional responsibilities. Responsibilities include partnering with surgeon-scientists on developing innovative tissue engineering solutions to common pediatric operations, develop and secure an independent line of extramural funding, work closely with our innovations programs on developing patent applications, and mentor other scientists in this area.

Qualified candidates will hold a PhD in biomedical engineering, materials science, physiology, or similar degree path. Expertise in working with surgeon-scientists to create solutions which have broad applicability. The ideal candidate will also have surgical tissue engineering experience.

The start date is negotiable and the position will remain open until filled.

The expected base pay range for this position is $185,000 - $300,000 per year, with annual merit increases dictated by performance.

Lurie Children's Hospital and Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.

This position is located at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, however applications must be submitted online through Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
