Job Summary:Develop and improve manufacturing functions and layouts for all PDQ facilities.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Prepare economic justification for capital equipment procurement and installation.
  • Prepare plant layouts and determine process flow.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes for assembly and fabrication.
  • Provide manufacturing design support to R&D for manufacturability and cost reduction.
  • Assist in the construction of new product prototypes.
  • Organize transition of new products from R&D to production.
  • Ensure Assembly and Shipping Work Instructions are created.
  • Supervise the design and coordinate the completion of Assembly fixtures.
  • Assist in training personnel in proper Assembly techniques.
  • Prepare pilot production runs.
  • Approve part releases for Manufacturing.
  • Establish testing procedures and quality checks for production equipment.
  • Set up required OSHA programs and safety inspection reports.
  • Establish and maintain required environmental compliance programs.
  • Design and implement storage and material handling systems for production.
  • Coordinate with the Product Engineering Department for smooth transitions of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and effectively communicate these changes to the employees.
  • Promote and participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Observe and enforce all safety rules and PPE requirements applicable to the area.

Experience Requirements:

  • Computer proficiency in a Windows environment is required, preferably with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • A minimum of 2 years' CAD experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience using Oracle or similar manufacturing software is preferred.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes associated with the production of engineered products is required.
  • Knowledge and application of ISO standards in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience with implementing and driving Lean Manufacturing principles is preferred.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of manufacturing materials and construction technologies.
  • Estimating skills for manufactured parts cost and assembly time are preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and environmental standards is preferred.
  • Must possess effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Blueprint reading skills are required.
  • Electrical testing experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of assembly methods used in all areas is required.
  • Prior experience using Oracle or similar manufacturing software is preferred.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Quality Responsibilities:

  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process and quality systems.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions.
  • Control further processing, delivery or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

Education Requirements:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Industrial Technology is required.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to normal office conditions like telephone, personal computer, reports and files. The employee will also be exposed to normal conditions of a manufacturing facility. The employee will be required to talk or hear. The employee will be required to stand for long periods of time. The employee will use his/her hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and climb or balance and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will frequently lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 70 pounds. When working on machinery, employees will bend, stoop and crouch on a regular basis and constantly move about to coordinate work. The employee is required to regularly set up, adjust, assemble, control, test and operate machinery.
