Redwire Space
United States, Virginia, Chantilly
14401 Penrose Place (Show on map)
Jul 14, 2026
Redwire is an innovative space and defense technology company driving advanced capabilities across the aerospace sector. We are looking for a leader who can contribute to concept of operations development, mission solution design, and strategic analysis for spacecraft programs supporting National Security Space. This includes work spanning space domain awareness, space resiliency, mission autonomy, structures, sensors, and nextgeneration space systems.

The Full Stack Software Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining endtoend software capabilities that power the company's simulation, digitalengineering, and missionsystem platforms. This role blends modern frontend engineering, highperformance backend development, and systemslevel thinking to ensure that user interfaces, APIs, data pipelines, and realtime services are coherent, scalable, secure, and aligned with mission and product objectives. You will develop advanced React interfaces, implement highthroughput backend services in Python/C++/Rust, integrate with distributed systems and simulation workflows, and collaborate closely with systems engineers, mission analysts, UI/UX designers, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable, datarich, and performancecritical applications across aerospace and defense environments.

Major Responsibilities

  • Design and build fullstack software capabilities supporting simulation, digitalengineering, and missionsystem workflows.

  • Develop advanced frontend interfaces using TypeScript/JavaScript, React, and scalable UI architectures.

  • Implement highperformance backend services in Python, C++, or Rust for APIs, microservices, and realtime pipelines.

  • Integrate with distributed systems including simulation engines, data pipelines, and missionanalysis tools.

  • Design and maintain APIs including REST, GraphQL, and gRPC interfaces with strong schema governance.

  • Build realtime processing pipelines supporting deterministic, concurrent, or multithreaded execution.

  • Develop complex visualization tools for physicsbased simulations and realtime system behavior.

  • Ensure reliability and observability through logging, metrics, tracing, error handling, and automated testing.

  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines including systems, mission analysis, UI/UX, and DevOps.

  • Contribute to CI/CD and engineering rigor through testing, code reviews, and Gitdriven workflows.

Ideal Experience

  • STEM foundation - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related STEM field.

  • Fullstack engineering experience - 1-5 years building production systems across frontend and backend domains.

  • Systemslevel understanding - Concurrency, distributed systems, data modeling, caching, and performance optimization.

  • Modern frontend expertise - TypeScript/JavaScript, React, and contemporary UI engineering practices.

  • Core web fundamentals - HTML, CSS, browser internals, rendering pipelines, and performance constraints.

  • Advanced React patterns - Hooks, context architectures, compound components, scalable state management.

  • Design systems & component architecture - Component libraries, design systems, CSSinJS, modular CSS, utilityfirst approaches.

  • Complex visualization work - Physicsbased simulations, engineering workflows, realtime system behavior.

  • Backend integration fluency - REST, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSockets.
