As a Senior CMM Programmer, you will serve as the site's definitive technical authority on advanced metrology and automated Zeiss Calypso programming, tooling verification, and advanced component validation. You will champion the metrology strategy for production initiatives, optimize our existing program library, and validate the shop floor fixtures that allow our production technicians to autonomously on quality at the source.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Metrology Excellence: Architect, validate, and optimize highly sophisticated, CMM automated inspection programs using Zeiss Calypso for ultra-precision military aerospace hardware and assemblies. Catalog and standardize the library of CMM programs, and ensure configuration control and zero redundant programming work.
  • Champion Inspection Mentorship: Serve as the subject matter expert to train, coach, and technically elevate junior programmers and mechanical inspectors in advanced probing techniques and GD&T execution.
  • Lead In-Sourcing Validations: Serve as the lead technical resource for dimensional validation and AS9102 First Articles on complex machined parts being brought back in-house.
  • Validate Floor Fixtures: Validate inspection jigs and go/no-go fixtures, directly reducing reliance on CMM cycles and pushing quality verification to the floor techs.
  • Hold Customer Trust: Achieve full Delegated Quality Representative (DQR) status, serving as the final authorized signature for customer product release and source-delegated buyoffs.
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis: Partner with Quality Engineering to lead technical metrology evaluations to determine the root cause of component nonconformances, hardware escapes, and customer returns.
  • Simplify Complex Designs: Deconstruct highly complex engineering models, hydraulic schematics, and geometric specifications to design stable, innovative physical measurement setups from scratch.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner directly with Manufacturing, Engineering, and external customer or government source auditors to clarify drawing intent and witness special hardware processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience: High school diploma or GED with 8+ years of dedicated aerospace precision inspection and master-level CMM programming experience.
  • Leadership Track Record: Proven background training technical peers, stepping up as an autonomous project owner, and instilling a high-standard learning culture.

  • Technical Acumen: Total mastery of complex blueprint interpretation, hydraulic/electronic schematics, and advanced GD&T application per ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift and maneuver parts or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted.

Preferred Experience

  • Power-user status within aerospace manufacturing and tracking software, specifically Net-Inspect and Solumina.
  • Complementary programming expertise in PC-DMIS.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI).
  • Direct experience programming and setting up inspections specifically for complex electrohydraulic flight control actuators, servo valves, or multi-axis machined parts.
