Position Summary

Lays out and performs work involving the installation, repair, maintenance and servicing of plant electrical circuits, equipment, apparatus and instruments working to blueprints, NEC electrical codes, sketches, written or oral orders. Guides any personnel assigned to assist in all types of electrical maintenance.

  • Layout, plan and perform test equipment, installation and equipment repairs or construction of machinery.
  • Locate causes of malfunctions or breakdowns in machinery, processing machinery or other major plant equipment and its accessory mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic units and controls.
  • Repair any other plant machines and equipment as assigned.
  • Determine repair or reconditioning required, disassembly required and parts replacement or repair required.
  • Pipe bending, fitting and welding, tube bending and flairing.
  • Build and erect special plant or experimental machines and equipment.
  • Ascertain methods of fabrication and assembly.
  • Build and assemble special machines to blueprint, engineering instructions or thorough knowledge of equipment or machine function requirements.
  • Arc and/or acetylene welding, cutting and brazing required in repair or construction jobs assigned.
  • Perform any work of a maintenance repairperson.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on compressors, test stands and associated equipment. Including scheduling time with all departments that will be affected with the maintenance of the equipment and /or machinery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must have extensive knowledge of machinery both as to function and operation.
  • Basic knowledge of machines, mechanism and mechanics.
  • Knowledge of industrial pipe fitting.
  • Able to do arc and gas acetylene welding
  • Able to work to any assembly or installation blueprints, machinery construction and maintenance manuals
  • Good knowledge of maintenance parts and materials
  • Knowledge of safe rigging to lift and move heavy equipment.

Education, Experiences, Certificates/Licenses and/or Registrations:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.

  • High school diploma or GED, or
  • Or Vocational training
  • Or 10+ years practical experience,
  • Or any combination of training and experience.

Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods and stand to perform work. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull or move up to fifty (50) pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

  1. Occasionally required to lift up to 100 lbs.

  2. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.

  3. Safety glasses, shop coat/apron, proper shoes.

  4. Occasional exposure to shop element such as noise, dust, odors and fumes.

Typical Materials, Tools and Equipment Used:

Materials worked on: All types of plant maintenance material.

Materials worked with: Replacement parts, hardware, plumbing, supplies, electrical accessories, carpentry supplies, solvents, paints, waste, etc

Tools used: Power sweepers, power vacuums, wrenches, hammers, mallets, files, chisels, brushes, shovels, picks, hand saws, drills, sanders, power screw guns, etc.

Equipment used: Saws, drill presses, pedestal grinders, bench vises, pipe threaders, clock and tackle hoists, oiling and greasing equipment, hand trucks. Operate all power equipment pertaining to job classification.

Compensation: $38.66-$41.77/hr

  • Pay Range: $26.6/hr to $44.3/hr
