Position Overview



  • Partners with Market Leaders, and project teams to integrate safety into operational plans.
  • Engages with market specific trends, practices, and legal issues to remain current and serves as an advisor.
  • Performs safety inspections and assessments and analyzes results and communicates findings communicated to project teams, market leaders, and the Safety Director.
  • Design changes that will meet various owners' and clients' needs.
  • Ensure safe, effective and efficient operation within the market.



Market Leadership & Partnership



  • Leads the safety program on moderate to complex projects within assigned markets.
  • Acts as the primary safety partner to Market Leaders, supporting business objectives while reinforcing safety as a core value.
  • Collaborate with Market and Operations leadership to align safety strategies with market-specific risks, client requirements, and delivery models.
  • Develop and track key safety metrics, KPIs and a Project Safety Scorecard, with results communicated.
  • Provide consistent safety leadership across all projects within the market, ensuring alignment with company standards and expectations.



Built In Safety Implementation



  • Lead the implementation and sustainment of the company's Built In Safety program across all projects in the market.
  • Ensure safety is integrated into project planning, design reviews, constructability reviews, procurement, and execution.
  • Coach project teams on proactive risk identification and mitigation, emphasizing planning over reaction.



Advisory Responsibilities



  • Influences safety performance through collaboration, technical expertise, and field engagement
  • Provides technical support to train, develop, and coach safety professionals and other working within the market.
  • Advise on methods and courses of action to achieve departmental and organizational goals through effective financial planning and financial performance of the department/work unit.
  • Partners with project teams during investigations and finalizes reports.
  • Guides environmental compliance inspections for the Markets of responsibility.
  • Escalates of significant safety issues, potential loss exposures, and injury related concerns by coordinating closely with the Safety Director and the Risk Management Department, ensuring appropriate visibility, analysis, and decision making.
  • Assists in developing market-specific and site-specific safety plans, including emergency action plans, fall protection plans, critical lift plans and other market-specific procedures.
  • Updates market specific orientation materials as projects change and develop.



Client & Industry Engagement



  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as a trusted safety advisor for market-related projects.
  • Participate in client meetings, audits, and reviews related to safety performance and expectations.
  • Represent the company in market-related industry groups, forums, and associations to strengthen relationships and share best practices.
  • Support and engage key contractors used within the market, reinforcing safety expectations, alignment to Built In Safety principles, and consistent execution across projects.
  • Responds as primary point of contact to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.



Continuous Improvement & Innovation



  • Monitor safety trends, regulatory changes, emerging risks, and new technologies relevant to the market.
  • Evaluate and recommend innovative tools, processes, or technologies that could improve safety performance within the market.
  • Capture lessons learned and best practices from project teams and ensure they are shared and applied across the market and the company.
  • Perform periodic safety audits, inspections, and program reviews across the market and individual projects to verify adherence to safety expectations and identify improvement opportunities.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in health & safety, Engineering, Construction Management or related field AND 10-15 years Health & Safety experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience in a related trade.
