Responsibilities
Role Overview The Systems Specialist is an embedded project support role that sits at the intersection of data management, construction operations, and technology. You will work directly within our data center project teams to configure and maintain InfraLink - M.C. Dean's project execution platform - to ensure work breakdown structures, standard work, and schedules are accurately maintained, and serve as the embedded liaison between project teams and the InfraLink group. This is a role for someone who is analytically inclined, process driven, and eager to grow in the construction delivery environment. Prior experience in the construction or contracting industry is a plus. Job Responsibilities Project Standardization
- Apply established Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to represent the Level 4-5 WBS across Engineering, Physical Design, Manufacturing, Construction, and Commissioning phases.
- Partner with project teams to develop the project-specific Level 4-5 WBS by:
- Evaluating project scope and mapping it to the catalog of standard work, including standardized workflows and schedule alignment.
- Identifying non-standard scope and coordinating with Operations and InfraLink leadership to document and develop a management approach.
- Identify and sequence system boundaries for each feature of work in accordance with established guidelines.
- Review and QC incremental physical and logical design uploads; ensure alignment with the WBS, naming conventions, and data attribute assignment.
Project Team Support
- Configure the InfraLink System Hierarchy to represent Level 1-3 of the project WBS using established standards.
- Provide day-to-day application support to project teams, including data uploads, workflow execution, report generation, and general system usage and adoption.
- Configure project workflows and generate work packages in accordance with established standards.
- Monitor Earned Value metrics and enable near real-time scheduled activity percent completion tracking.
- Synchronize schedule attributes between InfraLink and the project master P6 schedule; support near real-time bi-directional updates.
- Analyze project schedules against published project WBS.
- Prepare and present updates at weekly and monthly project meetings.
Continuous Improvement
- Document and develop recommendations for improving configuration standards across projects.
- Serve as the project-embedded liaison to the InfraLink software group: author technical requirements, participate in solution testing, and support deployment of software improvements to your projects.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelors Degree in Science - Preferably in an Engineering related discipline with 0+ years of experience.
- Experience with enterprise systems including CMMS (e.g., Maximo), Work Order management, or ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle); understanding of how these systems support operational workflows.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including large-scale data validation, cleanup, and transformation using automated functions (pivot tables, macros, python scripts, etc.).
- Working knowledge of business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau; ability to build and interpret complex reports and dashboards.
- Strong data analysis skills: ability to extract insights from structured data, identify trends, and communicate findings clearly to project stakeholders.
- Experience gathering, documenting, and translating operational or technical requirements into system configurations or process improvements.
- Excellent documentation management skills; ability to maintain structured documentation and support collaboration across multiple teams.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and collaboration skills; comfortable presenting to project teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred
- Experience with an Electrical Contractor, Mechanical Contractor, or General Contractor.
- Scheduling experience with Oracle Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Proficiency in SQL or database querying for data extraction, validation, and transformation.
- Working knowledge of engineering drawing standards and the ability to read construction and design plans; exposure to Autodesk Revit or AutoCAD, whether from professional experience or coursework, is a plus.
- Experience in field operations, design management, or project engineering roles (e.g., project engineer, project leader, design).
Career Growth This role is intentionally designed as a bridge between technology proficiency and construction operations. You will be embedded on active data center projects and will develop knowledge in M.C. Dean's project delivery model, InfraLink platform, and construction workflow, skills that transition into operations leadership, project engineering, and platform product roles within the organization. Candidates who arrive with systems and data skills but limited construction exposure are encouraged to apply. Abilities:
