General Purpose

The Accounting Officer will be responsible for performing several tasks in supporting the accounting operations of Alpine Bank. The individual will ensure the Bank's accounting practices, classifications and reporting adheres to compliance and regulatory standards. Actual pay and Officer level will be commensurate with experience.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develops, documents, and audits business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Ensures the Bank's accounting procedures comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and/or regulatory reports.
  • Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
  • Oversees monthly income tax accruals and assists with the filing of the Bank's annual tax returns.
  • Leads the investigation, selection, and implementation of alternative enterprise-wide finance and accounting software solutions (ERP/FMS) to replace legacy spreadsheet-based workflow with an integrated, end-to-end solution.
  • Assists in the development of reports for management and regulatory bodies.
  • Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required as an essential function of this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrated ability to budget, analyze, and manage one or more branch income statements and balance sheets.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex accounting concepts into clear, actionable verbal and written communications for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven experience with a sophisticated accounting team in a growth environment.
  • Mastery of GAAP, regulatory reporting (Call Reports), and tax preparation.
  • Ability and willingness to relocate if necessary.


Education or Formal Training:



  • A bachelor's degree (BA) in Business, Finance or similar is required, an Accounting Degree is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Colorado Drivers' License, required.


Experience:



  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years or more of related experience in accounting and financial management.
  • Proven leadership and teamwork preferred.
  • Relevant experience in specialty preferred, with a proven track record of driving successful strategies.


Working Conditions

Working Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment, that may have a hybrid schedule to include remote and in office work. In-office attendance requires a minimum of three (3) days per week. This arrangement can be modified at any time, at management discretion. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and multifunction printers. Travel to conferences, meetings and branch locations on a regular basis is necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is largely a sedentary role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employee also may have to lift up to 25 pounds.
