About the role:

CLA is looking to hire a Manager, Deal Services. This role provides Quality of Earnings, due diligence and mergers and acquisitions consulting services to clients, while building relationships with new and existing clients. They oversee significant Quality of Earnings and mergers and acquisitions engagements, manages talented staff, and assumes the role of mentor on Quality of Earnings technical issues and overall professional development.

As a Deal Services- Manager, you will:

  • Engages with the client in an advisory/consulting capacity to work through key transaction issues with other advisors.
  • Performs technical review of associate and senior associate work with a focus on quality, risk avoidance and total client service.
  • Is fully aware of CLA's industry and service capabilities and identifies opportunities for seamless client service through delivery of additional services.
  • Service Specialization: Clients may be in any industry with a need for a technical expert, or the Director may be industry focused. They serve clients in a high impact manner, demonstrating command of their major area of specialization. Demonstrates deep technical skills, general industry knowledge, and knowledge of the firm's capabilities. Expand technical and professional knowledge through greater exposure to new client situations, regular self-study and formal training opportunities.
  • Transaction Advisory/Deal Services: Lead client calls, review senior and associate work, and other transaction deal services for clients. Supports multiple client engagements of varying size and complexity, on time and within budget, and communications progress and results to clients. Keep principal aware of engagement status and problem areas. Proactively interact and communicate with clients and other advisors to gather information to ensure timely engagement wrap-up. Analyze and review complex areas/transactions as well as prepare Quality of Earnings and related reports.
  • Leadership/New Business Development: Excel at engagement management and operational excellence, developing standards in these areas for the firm. Provide leadership on client engagement, effectively managing the expectations of clients. Exhibit strong people management and team building skills. Establish leadership authority with team on engagements. Work effectively in executing engagement responsibilities. Demonstrate personal productivity and maintain high levels of utilization and region profitability by supporting multiple industry and service areas when not working in their respective major areas. Understand the firm's financial model and ensure profitable delivery of engagements. Support business development opportunities as a high ranking expert and expand existing relationships through demonstrating high value and good strategic partnering capabilities. Build lasting relationships with clients and subordinate staff.

What you will need:

  • Six years of experience in a large professional services or public accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • Working towards CFA, CPA or other post-graduate degree or relevant industry/service certification
  • General knowledge of accounting principles and/or regulations impacting each engagement or project, financial markets, analysis and reporting of financial data. Business writing and communication. Understand internal software systems including Pfx Fixed Assets, Pfx Engagement, CCH Access Tax, XCM etc. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and MS Office products is necessary.
  • This position requires frequent local travel to/from client sites and may require occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.

The compensation range for this position in California is: $124,100.00 - $209,000.00
