Description JOB SUMMARY The Safety and Security Specialist ensures safety and security compliance in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Security Administration. The Specialist conducts inspections, compliance testing, evaluations, and audits of operations and programs to ensure conformance with required safety and security regulations. This role requires an independent, detailed, and task-oriented individual. This position is responsible for maintaining a professional working relationship with airlines, concessionaires, contractors, and federal partners. The Specialist is administratively and operationally accountable to the Manager of Safety and Security. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES * Motivate safe and compliant behavior through promotion of a dynamic safety and security culture. * Conduct regular safety audits and investigations of operational processes, procedures, and systems in support of the Airport's Safety Management System. * Ensure regulatory compliance is maintained regarding the airport's Safety Management System and Security Program. * Engage in safety and security risk management for planned airport/tenant projects and events. * Work with appropriate management team members to develop, implement and monitor risk interventions. * Perform data analysis of safety data to identify existing and latent hazards, trends, ineffective safety risk mitigations, and ensure that the Safety Management System is performing as intended. * Perform applicant vetting to include Security Threat Assessments (STA) and Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and collaborate with the Airport Safety and Security Manager on Criminal History Records Check adjudication. * Interact at all levels of the Company and with external regulatory agencies. * Conduct security audits and inspections to ensure compliance with the Airport Security Program (ASP) and the Transportation Security Administration regulations. * Complete the Safety and Security Office monthly tasks to include badging and visitor pass reports, generating screening schedules, reviewing the monthly tenant billing, and distributing promotional materials. * Provide support to tenants with badging portal registration and troubleshooting, establish new companies within the access control system, and assign appropriate clearance levels in coordination with the Badging Office Administrator. * Conduct required safety and security training as needed and annually. * Coordinate with Airport Safety and Security Manager and Airport Legal to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of tenant badging records and CCTV footage requests in accordance with Open Records Act requirements and organizational policy. * Support the Badging Office Administrator with badging operations and general customer service duties at the front desk to include, processing badge applications, coordinating badge training, issuing and administering airport identification badges, answering walk-in and phone inquiries in a timely manner, ordering, and maintaining stock of badging supplies and scheduling the Operations Conference Room. * Supports the Airport Safety and Security Manager and acts as the Alternate Airport Security Coordinator on an as needed basis. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in an aviation-related field or safety/security-related field. One to three years of increasingly responsible experience in safety and/or security operations. Qualified candidates should demonstrate knowledge in safety and security protocols, regulatory compliance, and risk assessment, along with effective communication, organizational skills, sound judgement, and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Demonstrated proficiency and expertise in the following areas: * Ability to multitask and keep composure in a fast-paced environment with a customer-oriented mindset. * Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. * Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. * Ability to manage highly confidential information and to share information appropriately. * Ability to analyze and solve problems individually and as a team member. * Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. * Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures. * Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. * Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports. * Ability to design, implement, and administer systems to collect, maintain, and analyze data. * Knowledge of management principles and practices. * Ability to pass an extensive background check including a criminal history record check. * Demonstrates personal integrity, responsibility, and accountability. * Must report to work regularly and on time. Physical Requirements: Physical requirements include arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity enough to use a keyboard, ten-key and telephone; frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 20 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds; may be subject to walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, reaching, bending, handling, feeling and kneeling; and vision, speech and hearing sufficient to perform the essential tasks. Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid Class \"D\" Oklahoma Operator's License; ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge; and ability to acquire applicable Transportation Security Administration (TSA) designation as an Airport Security Coordinator. Working Environment: Working environment is predominantly indoors in an office setting and requires use of telephone, radio communications and other related equipment. Note: This classification is a "safety sensitive" position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing and Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Laws. As a "safety sensitive" classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
