Job Summary

The Accountant III is responsible for supporting the month-end and quarter-end close processes by preparing and posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and maintaining the accuracy of financial records. This role works closely with accounting and cross-functional teams to support financial reporting, cash receipts, accounts receivable activities, and other general ledger functions. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong analytical skills, advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, and experience working with ERP systems in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries during the monthly and quarterly close processes.
  • Ensure journal entries are accurately coded to the appropriate general ledger accounts and cost centers.
  • Prepare and upload recurring and ad hoc journal entries within the ERP system.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate, analyze, and resolve variances.
  • Support cash receipts and accounts receivable activities by applying customer payments and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Generate and review accounts receivable aging reports.
  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end close activities to ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare financial reports and distribute daily financial reporting to internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with preparing internal audit support documentation and maintaining organized financial records.
  • Review supporting documentation and verify the accuracy of financial information.
  • Collaborate with accounting, FP&A, and other cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and support financial operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support continuous process improvements and additional accounting projects as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Hands-on experience owning month-end close activities.
  • Strong experience preparing and posting journal entries.
  • Experience performing account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
  • Experience working with Oracle Fusion or a comparable ERP system preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA preferred.


Work Experience



  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience with month-end and quarter-end close processes.
  • Experience preparing and posting high-volume journal entries.
  • Experience performing detailed account reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting accounts receivable and cash application functions preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion or a comparable ERP system preferred.
  • Experience within media, entertainment, or studio accounting environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with participation accounting and revenue recognition is preferred.
