Job Summary

The Class A CDL Driver to safely transport materials to customer locations while providing excellent customer service. This position primarily involves operating an automatic Peterbilt semi-tractor with a flatbed trailer to deliver pipes, valves, castings, and other sewer and waterworks products. Approximately 90% of the role consists of driving, with the remaining 10% supporting warehouse operations, including preparing deliveries, loading, and unloading materials. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, customer-oriented, and comfortable assisting with warehouse duties as business needs require.

Job Responsibilities



  • Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle, including an automatic Peterbilt semi-tractor with a flatbed trailer.
  • Deliver materials to customer locations according to scheduled delivery times.
  • Transport pipes, valves, castings, and other sewer and waterworks products.
  • Validate delivery routes and communicate with supervisors throughout the workday.
  • Load, secure, and unload materials while ensuring compliance with weight limits and safety standards.
  • Obtain customer signatures and maintain accurate delivery documentation.
  • Pick up customer returns and verify returned materials against documentation.
  • Retrieve local purchase orders and return packing lists as required.
  • Verify that all materials have been delivered and placed at the designated customer location.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
  • Fuel vehicles as needed and promptly report accidents, vehicle defects, maintenance issues, or moving violations.
  • Assist with warehouse operations, including preparing deliveries, loading trucks, unloading shipments, and general material handling.
  • Represent the company professionally while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Support additional warehouse and operational duties as assigned.
  • Work overtime as needed to support business operations.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
  • Must possess the required state-issued non-excepted interstate self-certification designation and provide proof.
  • Minimum of one year of Class A commercial driving experience.
  • Minimum of one year holding a valid CDL.
  • Ability to safely operate semi-tractors with flatbed trailers.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic smartphone proficiency.
  • Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload materials.
  • Willingness to assist with warehouse operations as needed.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong safety focus.


Education



  • High school diploma or GED preferred.


Work Experience



  • Minimum one year of Class A commercial driving experience.
  • Previous experience delivering construction, industrial, or building materials preferred.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
