Job Description

About the role

The Commercial Operations Director role reports to the Vice President of Global Commercial Excellence within Amcor's Global Growth Team. The role serves as a business partner to Amcor's Sales & Marketing teams globally, driving commercial effectiveness, growth, and excellence. This role identifies key commercial priorities and proposes, aligns, and builds pragmatic, scalable commercial solutions by leveraging systems, tools, data, and cross-functional collaboration. This leader ensures global alignment of processes and capabilities while enabling commercial teams to operate with greater efficiency, consistency, and customer focus.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Act as a commercial business partner to global Sales & Marketing teams, identifying priorities and enabling delivery of strategic growth initiatives that drive organic sales growth and profitability
  • Drive commercial performance through pipeline optimization and data-driven insights, improving pipeline size, quality, velocity, and win rates
  • Lead implementation and adoption of scaled processes, systems, and tools (including CRM and AI-enabled capabilities) to increase efficiency, visibility, consistency, and sales impact per seller
  • Enable standardized KPIs, reporting, and ways of working, reducing administrative complexity and increasing seller productivity and time in front of customers
  • Generate and translate market, customer, and competitive insights into actionable strategies that improve win rates, cross-selling, and overall growth outcomes
  • Improve the end-to-end customer experience and buy/sell journey, increasing conversion, retention, customer value, and Voice of Customer outcomes
  • Lead and support change initiatives and capability building, strengthening commercial skills, accelerating tool adoption, and enhancing overall team effectiveness
  • Scale and standardize development and deployment of commercial tools, systems, and solutions to ensure consistent, global ways of working

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant commercial experience (sales operations, strategy, marketing, pricing, or related fields)
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Background in B2B, manufacturing or packaging environments, with strong commercial acumen
  • Strategy consulting experience is an advantage
  • Functional knowledge of sales capabilities, AI-enabled tools, data, Salesforce (strong hands-on capabilities), digital transformation, and change management
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable business impact
  • Experience leading in a matrix organization, including indirect leadership
  • Ability to influence and align stakeholders using data, insights, and business context
  • Proven capability to connect strategy to practical, scaled execution
