THE ROLE:

As an IC CAD Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the Cadence Virtuoso platform and LEF file generation in a custom design environment at AMD. You will work with CAD team members to verify existing setups for new technology enablement, work with vendors to evaluate new features for deployment, and provide user support to meet design deliverable schedules. You will also enable AI agents across all CAD areas to speed up the design cycle and improve CAD tool user experience. Your role will be pivotal in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of our custom CAD flows.

THE PERSON:

You have a passion for modern, complex processor architecture, custom design, and verification in general. You are a team player with excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with engineers located across different sites and time zones. You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, are eager to learn, and ready to tackle challenges. You are passionate about improving processes and user experience through AI integration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and maintain Cadence Virtuoso schematic and layout features
  • Develop and maintain the LEF generation flow
  • Develop and maintain the Calibre PDK
  • Work with vendors and designers to evaluate and deploy new features
  • Build regression testbenches to maintain CAD tool and flow quality
  • Provide technical support and training to users across multiple sites
  • Enhance overall user experience through AI agent integration

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with Virtuoso schematic/layout or any equivalent vendor tool
  • Experience with Calibre coding or any equivalent vendor tool
  • Experience with abstract and LEF generation processes
  • Experience with creating AI agents with Claude Code or any equivalent AI agentic tool
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Cadence SKILL and Perl

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering

LOCATION: San Jose, CA ( Open to Austin, TX )
