Summary of Job Duties:Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas (PCCUA) seeks a motivated, innovative, and student-centered individual to support and grow the Graphic Communications Program. This nine-month faculty position combines instruction, student recruitment, advising, program development, and academic leadership responsibilities to strengthen enrollment and student success across Eastern Arkansas.

The successful candidate will play a key role in recruiting prospective students, maintaining strong relationships with area high schools and community partners, teaching graphic communications and design coursework, advising students toward degree completion, coordinating adjunct faculty, and assisting with academic scheduling and program development efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction and Student Learning
*Teach a variety of Graphic Communications and Design courses, including but not limited to:
oGraphic Design
oDigital Photography
oDigital Imaging
oTypography
oPublication Design
oWeb and Interactive Design
oGraphic Communications Production
oOther graphic communications and design-related courses as assigned
*Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments.
*Utilize current industry-standard software, equipment, and instructional practices.
*Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that supports student success.
*Assess student learning outcomes and participate in continuous program improvement activities.

Student Recruitment and Outreach
*Actively recruit students into the Graphic Communications Program.
*Build and maintain relationships with regional high schools, career centers, and community organizations.
*Participate in college recruitment events, career fairs, campus tours, and outreach activities.
*Promote graphic communications and design career pathways throughout the PCCUA service area.

Academic Advising and Student Support
*Advise students regarding degree plans, course selection, transfer opportunities, and career pathways.
*Monitor student progress and provide academic support to improve retention and completion rates.
*Assist students in connecting with campus resources and support services.
Program Development and Coordination

*Participate in curriculum development and revision efforts.
*Develop and implement innovative graphic communications-related programs and training opportunities that respond to workforce needs.
*Maintain program equipment, software, and laboratory resources.
*Establish and maintain partnerships with industry stakeholders to support internships, employment opportunities, and program growth.

College Service
*Serve on college committees and participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities.
*Support accreditation, assessment, and institutional effectiveness initiatives.
*Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or Vice Chancellor for Instruction. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Graphic Design, Graphic Communications, Visual Communications, Digital Media, Fine Arts, or a closely related field; or
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with significant professional experience and qualifications appropriate for community college instruction.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in graphic design software and technologies, including Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student success and community college teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience at the college or secondary level.
  • Experience in student recruitment, advising, and program development.
  • Knowledge of printing, production workflows, digital media, photography, and emerging design technologies.
  • Industry certifications and professional graphic design experience.
