I'm excited to be partnering with Sacramento State to recruit an Alumni Networks Officer who will help shape the future of alumni engagement at one of California's most diverse and impactful public universities.
As part of the Office of Alumni Relations, you'll lead the strategy and growth of Sacramento State's alumni affinity groups and professional networks, creating opportunities for alumni to mentor students, expand professional connections, volunteer, and stay engaged long after graduation.
In this role, you'll:
Develop and grow alumni affinity groups and networks
Build relationships with approximately 100 volunteer leaders
Design mentorship, networking, and career development programs
Plan engaging events and experiences that strengthen alumni connections
Utilize CRM and engagement platforms to expand alumni participation
Collaborate with partners across the university to advance Sacramento State's mission

Through innovative programming, volunteer engagement, mentorship, networking, and career-focused initiatives, the team creates meaningful opportunities that support both alumni and current students while advancing the university's mission.

About this role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a relationship-builder and strategic program manager who enjoys working with volunteers, creating engaging experiences, and connecting people through a shared mission.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Alumni Relations, the Alumni Networks Officer will lead the strategy and growth of Sacramento State's alumni affinity groups and networks. You'll partner with volunteer leaders, campus stakeholders, and alumni to develop impactful programming focused on mentorship, professional networking, career exploration, and lifelong engagement. You'll also help expand the use of technology platforms that strengthen alumni-to-student connections while providing lead direction to a graduate student intern.

Experience You Will Bring:

    Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience developing, coordinating, and managing programs, initiatives, or community engagement activities.
  • Experience working with volunteers, advisory boards, committees, or stakeholder groups.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Experience planning events, programs, or engagement activities.
  • Experience using CRM systems or technology platforms that support communications, engagement, or program management.
  • Ability to analyze information, solve problems, exercise sound judgment, and make thoughtful recommendations.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and off-campus as needed.
  • Successful completion of a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two to four years of progressively responsible experience in alumni relations, higher education, nonprofit organizations, or a related field.
  • Experience using customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Experience supporting mentorship, networking, or career development programs.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple departments within a large or decentralized organization.

Salary: $65,000-$70,000 annually

May require occasional evening hours to support volunteer events and engagement (flexible schedule).
