Building on our past. Ready for the future

Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We're bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Purpose of the Role

Worley is seeking a commercially astute and sustainability-driven Senior Buyer to support the organization's mission of delivering sustainable change across the energy, chemicals, and resources sectors. This role is integral to advancing Worley's purpose of delivering a more sustainable world by ensuring the strategic procurement of materials, equipment, and services that enable complex projects across the full asset lifecycle-from consulting and engineering through installation, commissioning, decommissioning, and remediation.

The Senior Buyer serves as a critical procurement leader who bridges operational excellence with sustainable transformation by developing and executing procurement strategies that align with Worley's ambition to lead globally in sustainability solutions. This role partners closely with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to secure competitive, innovative, and risk-conscious supply solutions that support project success while maintaining the integrity, resilience, and sustainability of customer portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the procurement of a broad range of engineered and non-engineered materials, equipment, and services in support of corporate and project-specific objectives across energy, chemicals, and resource portfolios.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance procurement strategies that align with Worley's sustainability ambitions, operational priorities, and commitment to delivering integrated, data-centric solutions.
  • Act as a lead procurement professional or subject matter expert on highly complex purchasing initiatives, ensuring commercial competitiveness, technical compliance, and alignment with project delivery requirements.
  • Identify supply market opportunities, procurement risks, and sustainability considerations to provide informed recommendations that strengthen project outcomes and support customers through the transition to more sustainable energy sources.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, project delivery, supply chain, commercial, and stakeholder teams to ensure procurement strategies are integrated into broader project and portfolio objectives.
  • Provide leadership and strategic guidance to project procurement teams, supporting capability development, process improvement, and alignment with corporate standards and policies.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, commercial models, and risk profiles to ensure reliable, ethical, and sustainable sourcing decisions that reflect Worley's role as a trusted industry partner.
  • Prepare and deliver procurement proposals, sourcing strategies, commercial recommendations, and executive-level reports that influence decision-making on complex business matters.
  • Support supplier relationship management practices that promote long-term value creation, innovation, supply continuity, and responsible procurement outcomes.
  • Champion continuous improvement of procurement systems, tools, and processes, contributing to operational excellence and the advancement of procurement best practices across Worley's global operations.

Qualifications / Skill Set
  • Degree qualification in supply chain management, procurement, business, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience within complex project environments.
  • Significant experience in strategic procurement, purchasing, or supply chain leadership within energy, chemicals, resources, engineering, or industrial project sectors.
  • Advanced expertise in sourcing complex engineered and non-engineered equipment and materials across diverse project environments.
  • Demonstrated capability in developing and executing procurement strategies that balance commercial outcomes, technical requirements, sustainability priorities, and supply risk management.
  • Strong understanding of global supply markets, contract principles, supplier performance management, and procurement governance within large-scale project organizations.
  • Proven ability to lead procurement teams, influence stakeholders, and contribute to cross-functional project execution with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to assess market conditions, supplier risks, and strategic opportunities in alignment with customer and organizational sustainability objectives.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels and across global project teams.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems, supply chain technologies, and data-centric tools that support efficient, compliant, and informed decision-making.
  • Commitment to ethical sourcing, sustainability, operational excellence, and delivering measurable value in line with Worley's purpose, promise, and ambition.
  • Adaptability and strategic thinking to support a business that is bridging traditional energy needs with the transition toward more sustainable solutions.
