Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey invites applications for a postdoctoral research position associated with the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine.
A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the laboratory of Professor Eddy Arnold and Dr. Francesc Xavier Ruiz Figueras at the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine (
CABM), Rutgers University. The successful candidate will participate in
NIH-funded research focused on the discovery and mechanistic characterization of nucleotide-competing inhibitors of
HIV-1 and
LINE-1 reverse transcriptases (RT). The project combines structural biology, enzymology, crystallographic fragment screening, and structure-guided drug discovery to define novel mechanisms of RT inhibition and develop new approaches for targeting protein-nucleic acid interfaces. |

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
Must have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, or a related field by the start date of the position.

Applicants must have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Recombinant protein expression and purification.
- Biochemical and biophysical characterization of proteins and protein-nucleic acid complexes.
- X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-electron microscopy.
- Enzymology and inhibitor characterization.
- Structure-guided drug discovery or fragment-based screening.
Applicants must demonstrate:
- The ability to design, execute, analyze, and interpret experiments independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including preparation of manuscripts and scientific presentations,
- The ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment.

Experience with computational structural biology, molecular modeling, or AI-assisted drug discovery is desirable but not required. |
