The Division of Equal Opportunity and Compliance (DEOC) handles a broad range of compliance functions for the university, including Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Affirmative Action, Nondiscrimination, Title IX, Privacy, Public Records Act (PRA), and Whistleblower/Whistleblower Retaliation. Headed by the Vice Chancellor/Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, these compliance functions are carried out by staff in the DEOC and its five sub-units, which include: the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity (OEOD), the Public Records Office (PRO), the Office of the Whistleblower (WB), Compliance, and Administrative Policies & Procedures (APP). All offices in the division serve all members of the campus and medical center communities and mitigate risk to the University by ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and university policies.


Your Role on the Team

As a key member of this dynamic organization and under general direction of the Senior Director of Compliance and Operations, uses skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operations professional to actively participate in the development of strategic business plans, record management, project and database management and oversight of all administrative areas of the division. In addition, the incumbent employs independent judgment and advanced analytical and organizational skills to independently handle sensitive, confidential matters and produce informative and timely management reports and provides support to the Administrative Policy & Procedures unit. May supervise staff or students. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Incumbent must have keen awareness of university policies and the ability to act with professional demeanor, poise and diplomacy with all levels of university administration, including faculty, students, and staff, as well as community members.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities
  • Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs. High level of proficiency in using a personal computer utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, and databases, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
  • Expertise searching reference materials and gathering data for identification and analysis of problems, potential impacts, and developing resolutions. Expertise in analyzing situations and defining problems/objectives, identifying relevant factors, formulating logical conclusions, and recognizing alternatives.
  • Ability to review emerging requirements and assess impact on established policies and procedures. Analytical skills to interpret and apply federal and State regulations, and systemwide policies and procedures to a variety of circumstances.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and equal opportunity, and impeccable integrity. Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with diverse constituents.
  • Ability to supervise and coach support staff effectively. Working knowledge of personnel management, supervision practices and equal opportunity employment.

  • Excellent project management skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to set priorities. Punctuality, accuracy, office professionalism, ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively.
  • Ability to write summaries of gathered information that reflect stylistic consistency, logical organization, and a rational development of content.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write clear and concise reports and prepare and edit business correspondence and documents with correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Experience working in confidential environments (e.g., human resources, compliance, audit, risk management, legal offices).
  • Experience leading a team or project.
  • Experience in interpreting and summarizing financial data and preparing budgetary reports, including projecting and monitoring income and expenditure trends.

Preferred:

  • Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.

The expected pay for this recruitment is $79,200- $105,192 (Annual).
