Construction Cost Estimator

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled experienced Construction Cost Estimator with a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in commercial or industrial estimating. Preferred areas of experience include heavy civil and environmental (hydroelectric, water treatment, wastewater treatment, river restoration, and fisheries).

This is a fully remote position with periodic travel required for business meetings at company offices and visits to project sites in support of estimate development.

All Construction Division offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screen. In accordance with client requirements, security clearance is required and is determined based on background check results.

From concept to completion, projects are guided through feasibility studies, permitting, design, construction, and commissioning, ensuring technical precision and real-world functionality.

Requirements:

  • Effectively determine the bid strategies required for the company to be successful as well as plan and coordinate and supervise large projects.
  • Review all final estimate packages to insure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation.
  • Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required.
  • Gather details and maintain current market data to accurately estimate construction, material and soft costs associated with project construction.
  • Stay familiar with current regulatory requirements.
  • Develop documentation of cost and schedule in support of the bid process.
  • Prepare written documents and narratives to support the proposal development process.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Must understand the design build process and have experience working with design teams during the bid process.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in commercial or industrial estimating required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction costs, scheduling, and deadline-driven project delivery.
  • Proven ability to analyze bid documents, define project scope, and evaluate special conditions, risk factors, and constructability issues that may impact bid proposals.
  • Proficient in commercial estimating software, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with HCSS HeavyBid is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated reliability with regular and predictable attendance.

Compensation Package:

  • Pay Range: $125,000 - $150,000 (DOE)
