Qualifications

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in workstation and server maintenance or network hardware management.

Substitution of Associate Degree: An IT-specific associates degree may substitute for the required bachelor's degree.

Substitution of Graduate Coursework: Graduate IT coursework may substitute for one year of experience.

Substitution of Experience for Associate Degree: Experience may substitute for the associate degree up to two years.

Overview

Under general supervision, the End Point Technology Specialist-Intermediate supports the deployment, maintenance, and administration of desktop computers, servers, mobile devices and/or network hardware. The role includes troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing user access and directory services, and maintaining compliance with organizational IT standards. This class differs from the End Point Technology Specialist-Adv in that incumbents of the latter perform complex server administration duties, recommends workstation and software standards, and may supervise or act as team lead for staff primarily responsible for the deployment and maintenance of workstation hardware and software.

Responsibilities

1. Installs and configures desktop systems, network and/or wireless communication devices, and peripheral equipment in accordance with guidelines.
2. Deploys workstation images, tests patches and firmware, and maintains base images and antivirus protection.
3. Manages user access, security policies, group policy objects, and file directory permissions.
4. Troubleshoots complex hardware, software, and connectivity issues; escalates as appropriate.
5. Maintains documentation including asset inventories, software licenses, surplus tracking, and procedural guides.
6. Uses remote tools to diagnose and resolve end-user and system issues at local and remote sites.
7. Assists with planning and logistics for equipment replacement cycles and supports software distribution systems.
8. Trains staff on software usage and schedules service visits for hardware deployment and support.
9. Lead small to medium-scale projects as assigned by management.
10. May be asked to act as a site lead if based at a site that does not have an EPTSA, Supervisor or Manager.

TN Driver Standards
