Introduction

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) is seeking a highly dedicated, enthusiastic, and professional individual to serve as a full-time Crossing Guard Manager, working 37.50 hours per week in the Operational Support Division at the LCSO Headquarters in Leesburg, Virginia.


Job Summary

Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, manages the Crossing Guard Program and staff for the Sheriff's Office. This position hires, trains, and evaluates performance of assigned staff and guards; oversees the Crossing Guard Program; schedules staff and assigns equipment to make the best use of these resources; and ensures compliance with related policies and regulations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees performance of personnel; reviews and approves written reports; evaluates supervision and training needs; handles disciplinary issues; and conducts internal investigations.
  • Coordinates daily schedule; assigns and distributes personnel and resources to meet daily service demands.
  • Alters work schedule to ensure staffing coverage to meet service demands.
  • Ensures efficient and effective use of County equipment and property in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Performs specialized duties and assignments as directed; formulates operational plans and strategies to accomplish tasks.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; must be at least age 18; one (1) year of related work experience including six (6) months of supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Selection process includes review of the Applicant Screening Questionnaire and County employment application, in-person interview(s), and an intensive background investigation to include fingerprinting, criminal background check, credit check, driving record, and polygraph examination.
